there is a lot of blood in this chapter

THE DAY AFTER THE FUNERAL, the sombre atmosphere of Greenfield gave way to the bustling streets of Starfall, the capital city where the castle stood tall. Jieun, Riki, and Kazuki sought solace in the warmth of the castle's comforts, finding respite in a cosy sitting room adorned with plush furniture and a crackling fireplace.

Jieun settled onto a loveseat, her hand resting gently on Kazuki's shoulder as he sat beside her. Riki, ever attentive, sat on the other side, his presence a comforting presence. Plates of delectable treats were arranged on a nearby table, tempting their senses.

As they indulged in the delicacies, the conversation turned to Kazuki's newfound identity. Jieun, her voice gentle yet firm, explained the significance of being a 'bastard,' emphasising that it did not diminish his worth. She assured Kazuki that he would no longer be treated as a servant but rather given his own chambers, where he would be free to explore his own potential and no longer bound by the limitations of his birth.

Riki's eyes shimmered with pride as he looked at Kazuki, his half-brother. 'You have always been family to me, Kazuki. Blood does not define the bond we share. You will always have a place in my heart, as well as a place of honour in this castle,' he said, his voice carrying a blend of affection and reassurance.

Kazuki's eyes sparkled with newfound enthusiasm as he absorbed the empowering words spoken by Jieun and Riki. The weight of his past burdens seemed to lift, replaced by a newfound sense of purpose. With a wide grin, he turned to Jieun and Riki, excitement bubbling in his voice.

'Can I really go practise with the swords now? I've always wanted to learn, but I never had the chance before,' Kazuki exclaimed, his eagerness palpable.

Jieun and Riki exchanged a knowing glance, their smiles mirroring Kazuki's enthusiasm. Jieun nodded approvingly. 'Of course, Kazuki. You have every right to explore your interests and hone your skills. The castle's training grounds are open to you, and I'm sure Riki will be more than willing to guide you.'
