A WEEK HAD PASSED SINCE JIEUN AND RIKI'S PROCLAMATION REACHED HOUSE KANG IN THE HIGHLANDS. The response had finally arrived, bearing news that House Kang had chosen to bend the knee to Jieun's rule, on the condition of maintaining their independence as a nation. Jieun sat at the council room table, her eyes scanning the map spread out before her. Her fingers delicately picked up a small pin with a tiny banner, representing House Kang, and she moved it over the Highlands on the map, symbolising their acceptance of her claim.
The room was filled with an air of anticipation and a sense of accomplishment. Jieun's gaze shifted to those assembled, her voice filled with confidence born from her deep understanding of the political landscape. 'House Kang's loyalty is a significant step forward,' she stated, her tone tinged with satisfaction. 'With the Highlands under our control, we have secured a strategic position that will strengthen our position in the east.'
Riki leaned forward, his eyes fixed on Jieun, admiration and pride gleaming in his gaze. He recognised the depth of her knowledge and the strategic advantage she brought to their cause. 'Your understanding of the eastern and western dynamics sets you apart, Jieun,' he remarked, his voice filled with genuine respect. 'Your insight will guide us to victory and ensure the prosperity of our united realm.'
Jieun nodded, her gaze shifting to the Spirit Isles and House Hwang, the final pieces in their plan. 'House Hwang holds the key to controlling the Spirit Isles,' she declared, her tone filled with determination. 'Their position as a vital trading hub cannot be overlooked. We must appeal to their reason and make them understand that it is in their best interest to bend the knee. The Spirit Isles can flourish under our rule, and House Hwang can continue to thrive as a valuable ally.'
Heeseung, always by Jieun's side, spoke up, his voice resonating with unwavering loyalty. 'My queen, House Hwang will be foolish not to see the advantages of aligning themselves with us,' he affirmed.
The council members nodded in agreement, their support evident. Jieun's vision and understanding of the realm had garnered their trust and respect. The pieces were falling into place, and the realm teetered on the edge of change.
Jieun's gaze shifted toward Jay, Jake, and Sunghoon, the loyal knights from House Park. She recognised their expertise in matters of warfare, having trained alongside them in the castle for years. 'Jay, Jake, Sunghoon,' she began, her voice filled with determination. 'As former members of the eastern army and sworn protectors of House Yang, I trust you possess valuable insights into the strength and weaknesses of our forces. Share your knowledge with us.'
