I woke up in the middle of the night. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and looked around to see where I was. I always was completely disoriented whenever I woke up in a place other than my bed. I stood up and stretched; the couch wasn't the most comfy place to fall asleep. I walked over to the kitchen to see if Sun had eaten anything and felt relieved at the sight of her dirty dishes in the sink.
I decided to go upstairs and change into my pyjamas. I quickly brushed my teeth and hopped in my bed too tired to even close the curtains. Within seconds I drifted away in a dreamless sleep.
I didn't know how long I had slept, but I suddenly was awake. I felt like I was being stared at. I turned on the lamp on my nightstand and let my eyes get used to the bright light. Weird. I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. I tried to look out of my window. The curtains were closed. I hadn't closed them, had I? This was getting stranger and stranger.
I hesitated before getting up and slowly walking towards the curtains. I slid them aside and looked out of the window only to come eye to eye with a familiar looking man. I jumped up and closed my eyes. This couldn't be true. When I opened my eyes again just seconds later, he was gone. Had I just imagined all this? The weirdest thing was that he looked exactly like the handsome guy I had seen at my school. Was I so caught up by him that I was fantasising about him? Yeah, that must have been it, I thought to myself as I closed the curtains again.
Although I was a bit cooled down by the thought of it just being an illusion I still was pretty freaked out. I definitely wasn't able to sleep alone anymore. So I did what I did almost every night since our parents' accident, I went to my sister's room.
I didn't even bother knocking on the door and just sneaked in with quiet movements so I wouldn't wake her. I slowly lifted up the sheets as I slipped under. Sun let out a soft moan, but remained asleep. I closed my eyes and fell asleep as well, still thinking about that guy.
When I woke up the next morning Sun had already gotten out of bed. It was Saturday so that meant no school and I had absolutely no problem with that. I decided to stay in my pyjamas and went downstairs to get some breakfast. When I got to the kitchen I saw that Sun had left me a note.
"Hey Lun, I am off to work. I thought I just let you sleep some more, you looked like you needed it ;) There are some fresh berries in the fridge, I'll be back before dinner xoxo"
I smiled and reminded myself to pay Sun a visit at her work. She could use some company and besides, maybe I could find myself a job there. We sure needed the money. I opened the fridge and grabbed the fresh berries: raspberries and blackberries, my favourites. I put them in a bowl and covered them with some plain Greek yogurt. If this wasn't a delicious breakfast, I didn't know what was.
I went over to the dining room and put my bowl down on the table. I grabbed my sketchpad that I had left on the table the night before and started to draw. Whenever I draw I just let my imagination roam free and when I am done I'll see what I drew unconsciously. This time there was just one thing I could seem to be drawing. Take one guess: the guy. - Seriously though I really need to figure out his name, because I can't keep calling him 'the guy.' -
