Danielle's POV
The next week went by slowly, probably because I was waiting to see All Time Low perform on Friday. My schedule was the same the entire week: Wake up, eat, go to work until 7, eat, do nothing, sleep. Boring, right? I was texting the guys everyday wishing I could hang out with them every night but knowing them, I would come home late that night and I wouldn't be able to get up for work. Friday was the worst. I wanted to book the day off so badly so I could spend the entire day with them but I needed the money. The day passed by slowly but at least on Friday's I got off work at 3.
When I was finished with work I drove straight to the venue hoping I could make it for sound check. Luckily, I got there before sound check started and Alex greeted me at the back doors. He led me backstage where I would be while they were on stage performing. I went down to a section in front of the stage and watched their sound check. Wow, they sounded flawless. I stood there in awe until they finished and I made my way backstage.
"You guys sounded amazing," I said, still amazed.
"That good, eh?" yelled a hyper Jack.
"Jack, stop yelling, the poor girl is standing right across from you," said Matt Flyzik, All Time Low's tour manager. I laughed while Jack calmed himself down. We all took a seat on the couches in silence.
"So what do you want to do for the next few hours? We don't get on for another 4 hours," asked Zack, breaking the silence.
"We could go find a Starbucks," suggested Rian. I nodded in approval. "I guess it's just you and me Danielle!" I got up and we both walked down to the nearest Starbucks.
"So, you and Alex?" Rian asked casually.
"There's nothing going on, we're just friends. I can't see him as anything else but a friend."
"He really loves you Danielle. I think you should give him a chance."
"But I don't like him like that. We're close friends but not that close. I let him put his arm around me, but Zack did it too. It's not a big deal, we're just friends."
We sat down in Starbucks after we got our drinks and continued our conversation.
"Look, there's something about you that Alex loves. He can't let go of you no matter what."
"I just can't deal with a boyfriend right now, it's complicated but I do know that I can't be with Alex."
"All I ask is that you stay close with Alex. Just trust me."
At that moment his phone started ringing. I could hear someone yelling at the other side of the conversation.
"We have to go. Now."
He jumped up from his seat and ran out the door. I followed his actions as we ran down to the venue. By this time it was getting dark and you could hear the opening bands playing their set.
"Where the fuck were you? You have half an hour before you go on!!!" yelled an angry Flyzik. Rian ran to go get changed while I went and sat down on the couch next to Alex who was already ready.
"How was the Starbucks run?" he asked.
"It was interesting," I smiled up at him.
"In a good way I'm hoping."
"Of course," we both giggled.
"Well I have to go on stage, I'll see you in a bit." he bent down and kissed my forehead. Just friends.
I got up and stood at the side of the stage where I got the best view. I sat on the floor watching as the crowd went crazy after every song.
The whole band except Alex got off stage. He started to play Therapy on his acoustic guitar. As he got further into the song I felt tears rolling down my cheeks. From the corner of my eye I saw Zack sit down beside me and hug me.
"Don't worry everything's going to be alright," he kept repeating. I just cried harder into his chest until the song was over. I somehow stopped myself from crying anymore and enjoyed what was left of the show.
"It's amazing isn't it? The way a song can change someone's emotions in the matter of seconds." At that moment Matt Flyzik sat beside me. "I've seen a lot of people that have done the same as you, only they're always in the crowd, not backstage."
"Yeah, that song just has a lot of meaning. Alex sung it to me before and it just has a spot in my heart now."
"You know he really loves you right?" he said looking from Alex to me. "You can tell by the way he looks at you, treats you. He hasn't acted like this before."
"But I don't understand; what makes me different than any other girl?"
"You guys just connect with each other. When you're near him, his face glows. He cares about you, don't let go of him." He stood up and took Jack and Alex's guitars as they walked off stage.
"How did you like it?" asked a sweaty Alex.
"I loved it!!"
"Good. We're going back to my place for a movie marathon, do you want to sleep over again?"
"Of course," I said with a smile.
The guys went outside to meet fans while I stayed behind. They came back an hour later and we headed for Alex's house again. Once everyone got to the house, we settled down and watched random movies all night. Cassadee even showed up so I would have a girl to talk to.
"Ok this is the last movie since it's 3 am. What do you guys think of Harry Potter?"
"YES which one?!" I yelled.
"Hmmmm Goblet of Fire?"
"DEAL!"
We all agreed and watched the movie while Jack and Alex made jokes out of it. Zack was so into it. I had no idea he liked Harry Potter. I was paying attention to the movie but not as much as Zack because I noticed when Alex put his arm around my waist.
We watched the rest of the movie in silence. Jack and Alex had shut up and they were actually paying attention to what was happening.
It was around 5:30 when the movie finished. Rian and Cass fell asleep hand in hand while Zack was still wide awake. Jack was passed out on the couch and Alex was barely awake.
"I should probably go now. See you soon Danielle," Zack said giving me a small hug trying not to move Alex's arm.
"Bye Zack," I said giving a small smile as he turned away locking the door behind him.
"Let's let them rest down here. We can go upstairs," Alex whispered in my ear. We tossed a few blankets over them and went upstairs. "So I figured you may need something to sleep in." He gave me a pair of sweatpants and a baggy Blink shirt.
"Thanks Alex." I said as he hugged me.
"No problem. By the way, I saw you crying during Therapy. I want everything to be alright. I don't want you to be broken anymore. Please. 'One secret meant to keep you safe tonight, I swear that everything will be alright.'" I smiled at him and hugged him tighter. He kissed my forehead as we pulled apart.
I turned away and walked into the room that was mine while I was here and sat on the bed. I didn't want to hurt his feelings but how do I say I only wanted to be friends? The kiss on the forehead couldn't mean a lot, I mean we're just friends, I swear. But I kind of liked it when he put his arm around my waist and kissed my forehead and hugged me tightly. Maybe I was developing feelings for him. Maybe we were meant to be more than just friends?
