The silence was killing me. He looked down at his plate and back up at me. I couldn't quite read the look on his face but I knew it was something important. He sat there in silence for another minute before speaking again.
"I...All Time Low was invited to play at Warped Tour this year." The concerned look on hs face faded and a huge smile formed on his face. "Would you like to come with us?" I gasped and smiled. I got up at the same time he did and ran into his arms, hugging him tightly.
"Yes, of course. Yes! When do we leave?"
"In a few days. We got invited months ago but I wanted to save it for a bit." I couldn't wipe the smile off my face.
"What other bands are coming too?"
"We The Kings, Simple Plan, We Are The In Crowd, Go Radio, Mayday Parade and a few other bands you'd be happy to see," he smiled.
"I'm so excited, wow thank you Alex! Holy crap I can't believe this is happening! I need to text Trav!" I ran upstairs to retrieve my phone. I called Trav, not thinking about anything else.
"Hello?"
"TRAV, I'M GOING TO WARPED TOUR WITH ALL TIME LOW! I GET TO SPEND THE SUMMER WITH YOU GUYS!!"
"Danielle, that's amazing! I can't wait to see you again! Listen, I have to go, sound check starts soon. I'll text you right after, okay? I miss you. Bye."
"Bye, see you next week!" I hung up and went back downstairs to help Alex clean up a bit. We talked about Warped the rest of the day, never dropping the subject for a minute. I was excited, more than I should have been. Zack dropped off any boxes at Alex's and I packed all clothes and things I needed for Warped in duffle bags and suitcases.
The few days passed by quickly. Next thing I knew, the band and crew were piling all luggage into the bus. Me and Alex shared a middle bunk while everyone else got their own. This was my first time on a tour bus and now, it was my home for the next two months. I could already tell that this tour was going to be amazing.
The first show was tomorrow in Cleveland, Ohio. We arrived there that night and had a beginning of tour BBQ with all of the bands. I got to meet some bands that I knew and some that I was patiently waiting to meet for years. My dreams had already come true and the tour hadn't even started yet. I met up with Travis and the rest of We The Kings, giving them all extra long hugs since I missed them so much even though I just saw them in the previous week.
I gave Travis a hug last, wrapping my arms around him. He gave me a small kiss on the top of my head and hugged me tighter.
"I missed having you around, Danielle," he said once we separated."
"I missed you too Trav. How have you been?"
"Not bad now that we're spending the summer together. Excited?"
"For sure! It's going to be so much fun. Music all summer, hanging out with my favourite bands. This is all surreal, it's amazing!"
We found a spot to sit by ourselves and just talked for what felt like hours. Soon enough, everyone went back to their buses and it was just me and Trav sitting outside. I felt a bit tired but I wanted to keep talking with him for some reason.
I must have fallen asleep because I woke up back in the All Time Low tour bus. I slid out of the bunk and went into the front with the rest of the guys.
"Good morning. How did you sleep last night when Travis carried you into the tour bus at 5 am?" said Rian, laughing.
"I honestly don't remember falling asleep."
"Alex is kinda mad about it though. You coming into the bus, passed out at 5 am with another guy?"
At that moment, the door opened and Alex entered. "Hey! You're awake! Our set is at 4 today but our signing is in half an hour. We The Kings goes on in a few minutes if you want to go watch while we sign."
I nodded and went to go get changed. I slipped on a pair of white shorts and red vans with an All Time Low shirt they gave me for the tour.
Alex led me to the stage where We The Kings was playing then showed me where they would be playing in a couple of hours. We The Kings took the stage. Alex stood beside me watching them as well. He put his arm around my waist and pulled me closer to him. I rested my head on his arm and quietly sang along to their songs.
He left after a few songs. I noticed something in my pocket which I was guessing Alex left there before he left. It was a schedule for the day, highlighting certain bands I wanted to see. I figured I had 2 months to see all of these bands so I stuck with We The Kings for today. He wrote something at the bottom of the page:
*I left a pass in your front pocket. Show the security and they'll let you go backstage. Love you, see you at 4*
I pulled out the pass and ran around the stage. I showed the security my pass and went to the side of the stage. I caught Charles, Danny and Hunters eye already but I was waiting for Travis to come off to switch guitars. When he came off, he put his guitar down, grabbing an acoustic before heading back to the stage. I cleared my throat and when he looked over at me, he smiled running to give me a quick hug before going back on stage.
"I want you guys to sing as loud as you can for this next song! Are you ready?!"
The crowd screamed in response.
"Good. This next song is called Say You Like Me and it goes something like this."
He started the song. The crowd immediately started singing with him. It was incredible seeing so many people singing along with them and I could only imagine what it felt like for them.
The set ended. Charles came up to me first, giving me a long hug.
"So you got the passes I gave Alex to give to you? All Time Low didn't have any extras so we got an extra one last minute for you. Hope you liked our "Welcome To Warped Tour" gift." Charles smiled at me. I thanked him and gave him another hug. Travis came off last after thanking the fans again and handing out the rest of his picks.
"Enjoy the show?" He said running up to me, smiling.
"Obviously, how couldn't I?"
He gave me another hug before talking again. "So everything is good between you and Alex? Are you okay?"
"Yup. We talked it out a few nights ago. Thanks for being there for me by the way."
"Any time. What time does All Time Low get on at?"
"In an hour. I should probably start heading back to their stage soon. Wanna come?"
"Of course. Let's go find something to drink though, it's hot today."
We walked to the We The Kings bus, which was parked beside ours. He tossed me a water while he drank a beer then we headed backstage where All Time Low would be playing in the next half hour. It was fun though. I got to catch up with everything We The Kings and we just talked for a while until All Time Low took the stage.
The crowd was bigger than I've ever seen before. Both the band and fans seemed happy and I couldn't help but bounce around at the side of the stage, singing along with them. Travis laughed because I probably looked like an idiot. But we had fun and that's all that mattered.
The set ended and Alex came off, giving me a hug and a small kiss.
"You guys were amazing, as always," I said, hugging him again. We walked back towards the buses with Travis, Alex's arm around my waist protectively. Something told me that this tour would be a good one. Or everything could go terribly wrong...
