I woke up in someone's arm but I don't remember falling asleep. I looked up to see the beautiful face of Zack. Why did he come? Why did he want to help me? I barely knew him yet he was willing to comfort me. His eyes opened and looked down at me. He smiled a reassuring smile making me feel safe in his arms. "Do you want to talk about it?"
I nodded in approval. He let go of me and we walked over to the couch. I told him the whole story. I expected him to back away and leave but instead he hugged me while I cried harder into his chest. We sat there in that position for a while but I didn't mind, I felt safe in his arms. I just kept crying until there was nothing left. After a few more minutes we seperated. I looked up into his eyes and he gave me a look that said,"Don't worry, you'll be alright. I'm here for you."
Zack's POV
I was on one of my daily runs when I was passing by Danielle's place. I hadn't seen or talked to her since before the tour started and now that it was finished, I still hadn't talked to her. I decided to go see her so I ran up her driveway and knocked on her door. A few seconds later someone answered the door but a broken version of Danielle answered the door. As soon as she saw my face, she sat on the floor and began to cry. Had I done something wrong? I sat down with her and held her in my arms until she fell asleep. Soon after I drifted off into a light sleep. I awoke to someone moving and surely it was her. She looked up at me and I smiled a reassuring smile. "Do you want to talk about it?" I whispered. She nodded and I let go and we walked over to the couch.
She told me everything and while she was talking, all I could think about was how strong she was. She overcame it most of the time. When she finished her story I immediately hugged her and let her cry into my chest. I let her stay there for as long as she wanted or as long as she needed. She began crying harder but I just hugged her tighter. I barely knew her, but I felt like she was a little sister. I wasn't ready to let her break just like that. Eventually we seperated and I looked down and gave her a look that meant she wasn't alone and I was there for her.
There was a knock on the door and I ran to answer it. It was Alex so I let him in and as soon as her saw her bloodshot eyes, her ran and gave her a big hug. It was in his nature to help people as much as possible. As soon as he let go he asked her what had happened but she didn't say the same thing she told me.
Her story went along the lines of "I just miss Toronto and my friends and family." But why wouldn't she tell him the real reason? Did she not trust him?
After a while, Alex had to go because he had somewhere to be with his parents. After he left, I sat on the couch with Danielle. "Why didn't you tell him the reason you told me?"
"It's just that, everytime I tell a guy something, they usually run away and I get made fun of. I didn't want to take the chance. The only reason I told you is because I could tell you were there for me no matter what since day one. You gave me your number and told me to text you if I needed you."
"Alex would never do that. He really wants to help too. He really likes you too, you don't have to worry about him running off just like that. Now I don't want you to be alone tonight, you can come to my house tonight or if you feel better, I'll take you to Alex's later on." She looked surprised for a second. It was silent for a minute before she began to talk.
"He likes me?" she said soflty.
"Of course, I saw it as soon as you walked in the room with him the first day we met. Maybe I'll take you to Alex's after he gets back." She nodded in approval. He wouldn't be back for a few hours so we just sat in silence. Slowly, she put her head down on my arm and I put my arm around her.
"Thank you Zack."
"For what?"
"For not judging or leaving me alone."
