***** Chapter 28 - She had them *****
Odette couldn't help but feel odd all weekend. Whether she was in bed with Ace, in the kitchen making them all food or lazing on the couch trying to do her school work and fend of Ace's advances, she felt odd.
"Well I know it ain't Ace's dick so what's got up your arse?" Eyeball finally asked her as he walked out into Ace's makeshift garden.
Odette was sat on the hood of a broken down, half torn apart car, cigarette in her mouth. She turned as she saw him before looking away.
"I don't know..." She mumbled, taking another long drag.
"Jenny ain't gonna spill anymore, I wouldn't worry." Eyeball seemed so relaxed about the whole situation now, the exact opposite as he lit up his own cigarette.
"You don't think what me and Ace are doing is reckless?"
"Oh it's reckless alright, it's stupid, it's frustrating, it's career-ending and life destroying." Eyeball blurted out, there was no hesitation as Odette's face screwed up in more shock that he was so open about it.
"But I haven't seen Ace like this since we met in like 8th grade." He added, taking a long drag of his cigarette.
"You met in 8th grade?" Odette asked as she took a final drag from her cigarette before flicking it away.
Eyeball nodded. "He was already friends with Billy and Vince, I was mates with Charlie and Jack, Fuzzy joined the group in like 9th grade."
"Didn't think you'd been friends that long." Odette mumbled, looking out as the sun slowly set.
Eyeball nodded once more. "And we all admit we ain't seen Ace like this before, so as much as I wanna say please don't hurt my best friend, I ain't stupid and I know you gotta do what's best for both of you. It's his career and reputation on the line and something tells me Castle Rock will forever remember you as the girl that fucked her teacher."
Odette nodded slowly. "So you know..." She mumbled as she hopped off the car hood and faced him. "Hurting him is the last thing I want to do."
Eyeball gave her a small nod as he watched her walk inside.

"You gonna talk to me about whatever has been bugging you all fucking weekend?"
Odette turned her head to see Ace laying in his bed beside her. The moonlight coming through the window lit him up as she could see him wide awake.
