Chapter 26
I arrive at yet another unfamiliar house I can’t really call this place home either it’s like I have no home and it’s been taken from my memory. My stomach grumbles so I get up and go to the fridge only to find it’s empty.
“We have to get food, I’ll go shopping” I say to Hunter
“Babe you don’t remember the area”
“Maybe it will jog my memory, please Hunter? I can’t just sit around and let you do everything”
“Alright, Stan goes with you though”
“Fine” I’m sure how to thank him should I hug him? Kiss him after all he is supposed to be my fiancé? I don’t do any of these things I just lift Leah into my arms and put her in the car.

I start walking down the aisles, I don’t know what sort of food Hunter likes and dislikes so I just pile food that looks good into the trolley while Stan follows me shadowing my every movement.
“Stan I can’t concentrate, can you at least stand by the door?”
“I have to keep you safe”
“Well if you stand by the door no one can get passed you?”
Stan walks away and I’m amazed that was the worst talk I have ever had and I defiantly need to work on my persuasion speeches. I continue to walk down the aisle then I turn around just to make sure that he really is gone and he is thankfully he gives me the creeps for some reason.
I turn around again and hit into a dark haired man pushing a trolley with a baby girl in it.
“I’m so sorry, is your little girl okay?”
“Yeah she is fine” he looks up at me “Starlet?”
“I’m sorry do I know you?”
“Yes well no I work for Hunter my name is Andrew but everyone calls me Andy”
“Oh nice to meet you I guess”
“I see the adoption finally came through what’s her name?”
“Leah, what’s your daughter’s name?”
“Ella-Rose she is turning one very soon”
Before I get the chance to say anything Stan comes running over to me pulling me behind him.
“Relax Stan it’s only me” he lets go off me but now he seems more on edge than before
“Right well Starlet we should be getting back soon”
“Alright Stan, nice meeting you Andy”
“Like wise Starlet” he waves goodbye and I walk towards the checkout.

I arrive back at the house and pack the groceries away in the fridge and cupboards. Hunter walks into the kitchen and wraps his arms around me holding me in what would seem like a loving embrace.
“Where have you been babe I was so worried?”
“Sorry I ran into one of your friends Andy”
“Andy? Yeah he works for me but I wouldn’t call him a friend”
“Ok I’m going to but Leah down and then I’ll make us something to eat”
I pick up a very sleepy Leah and walk upstairs.

I walk out into the hallway and see and odd looking door with no paint and no handle. I am about to open it when Hunter appears.
“What are you doing?”
“What’s in there?”
“That room is off limits it’s where I keep my work”
“Oh”
“Come on I made dinner and I thought we could watch the videos of how we met and all”
“Sounds good”

I sit in front of the TV and Hunter brings me my dinner which is fish and chips something simple, then he switches on the TV and puts on the DVD.
The first one comes on and I see myself carrying a load of heavy plates. I set them down on a table and go back for the bottles of lemonade. Someone bumps into me and I end up dropping them. I get down and Hunter helps me pick them all up.
“Thanks”
Some guy pulls Hunter away and I go back to the job at hand and put the bottles on the table. I go to get more when a girl with black short hair grabs me by the arm and pulls me along with her.
“Starlet there you are. I have someone I want you to meet” she taps a dark haired guy on the back and I’m in shock when I see who it is.
“Hunter this is my very good friend Starlet that I have been telling you all about”
“Oh it’s you” he says looking me up and down smiling
“You two know each other?” my friend asks
“Yea we meet two seconds ago, would you like to dance?” he asks
“Yes I would thank you”
Hunter pauses the DVD.
“Really that’s how we met?”
“Yea it was love at first sight” he presses play and the next clip comes on
“Starlet I want to say something” Hunter shouts
“Hunter please don’t” I cry
“Starlet I love you, if you leave me my heart will break I care for you more than Jane, yes me and Jane have a past but I hope you allow me to be your future”
“Really?”
“Yes I love you”
“I forgive you” and then I kiss him
Hunter stops it again
“Alright that’s enough for tonight, let’s go to bed” he holds his hand out waiting for me to take it but instead I start to back away from him.
“Hunter I’m sorry I don’t know you. I don’t remember the girl you fell in love with”
“She’s standing right here” he starts inching closer to me and I back away even more
“That maybe Hunter but I’m not sleeping with you”
“Look you take the bed and I’ll sleep on the floor that way I know you are safe”
I walk up the stairs with Hunter by my side somehow even holding his hand is just wrong it feels like I’m betraying someone else but I don’t know who that could be.
I climb into the bed and Hunter makes himself comfortable on the floor. I feel bad my supposed fiancé is sleeping on the cold hard floor so I throw him a pillow and blanket and then fall into a shivering sleep.
