Song of the Chapter: Wake Me Up - Ed Sheeran.
Spending the following weekend with Grandma and Jeff was awkward. It was hard not to tell everyone the news because I did want to. I had no reason to be excited for this baby, since I would miss university and the majority of my last younger years, but I was. Annoyingly, they both seemed to notice something but Brad had my back. I told Cassie and Ana, but I knew there was a part of me that needed to tell other people. Ashton's grandma knew, as did the boys, they were happy for us but sad for the band. I refused to let Ashton leave so he agreed with the boys nearer the end of the pregnancy that he would have time away from the band. That was okay with the boys and him but I still felt so guilty for causing this fuss.
Today I was left with nothing to do so I decided to clean out my wardrobe. It was pretty boring but it needed to be done. And in that time, I wanted to go through Grans box. Grandma wanted to help but I refused that offer because I didn't want to slip the news. Therefore, she went out to get some food, leaving me in the house alone.
My clothes eventually piled up and I couldn't help but feel guilty that I was wasting decent clothes. This was when I really wished my little sister knew me because she could have all these clothes and I wouldn't have to throw them out. Soon, I got bored and started looking through my box. The first thing I spotted was the note on top of a fortune cookie. My gran always believed in that sort of thing. When I cracked it open, I was afraid to read it so I waited a little bit before I proceeded.
Plan for the best,
Prepare for the worst.I groaned and chucked the cookie in the bin, I placed the paper with the fortune on it, on top of my cabinet. The next thing I went through was a photo album. But after like 1 minute I couldn't stand it so I went downstairs. I was hungry and thirsty. Obviously, I walked straight to the kitchen and searched through every cupboard. I had been living here for so long now and I still knew where nothing was. I huffed and searched through the last cupboard. I found a packet of crisps and some chocolate, that would do. I also grabbed a drink from the fridge and rested it on the kitchen island. Before I started to even open my chocolate bar, someone knocked on the door. No one told me about a visitor or a parcel delivery today and overall I was confused because what else could it be. I dragged myself out the kitchen and straight to the door. As I opened it, my mouth dropped. Emily.
"Surprise!" Emily yelled. I immediately jumped forward and hugged her. Emily was my friend from L.A. We grew up together and she was like my big sister. I loved her more than anything as did my mother. She adored her but when I left for here, we lost contact. It was all very complicated and difficult
"Oh my god, Emily! What are you doing here?" I squeezed her tight and she chuckled, pushing her suitcase behind me. I let go and looked at the big purple suitcase she was rolling into the house.
"Vacation!" She screamed and we both jumped up and down. "Mum promised me I would come see you and she contacted, I think 'Jeff', and he gave your details and told me to surprise you." I hugged her once more.
"You certainly did that. And oh my, you look exactly the same." I looked at her up and down. Her hair was long and brunette. She had such a perfect body that, even as a young teenager she was asked to be a model. Of course, she refused, that's never been her thing. But, let's talk about her smile. Her smile was everyone's favourite, her pearl white teeth needed no braces to keep them in place and her eyes were so loving and so pretty, they had their own world.
"As do you. But your fashion sense has definitely got better. Guess all those years of guiding you and buying you stuff was useless and instead I should of sent you here." Emily smirked and I shut the door, allowing her to go into the kitchen. "Jesus, I've never seen such a big kitchen."
"I know. Tell me about it. You ought to see my room, walk in wardrobe and everything." I grabbed Emily a drink from the fridge and threw it to her. I opened my drink and started to drink it, finally.
"So you've got a boyfriend I see... Jeff was talking about it. Aston isnt it?" Emily opened her drink and I practically choked, laughing.
"Ashton." I corrected and she laughed.
"Vice versa." Emily took a sip of her drink and looked at me. "You're in love aren't you?" Her eyes looked everywhere on my face. I laughed and looked down at my drink container, tipping it from side to side.
"You could say that." I shrugged and smiled to myself.
"Hope babies won't be coming out of you anytime soon." Emily chuckled and my face fell. She did not just say that. I avoided her eyes and looked straight behind her. "Brooklyn...?"
"What?" I snapped and I noticed her mouth drop. I squeezed my eyes shut and leant my elbows on the island. I dropped my hand onto my face and sighed.
"You're not, are you?" Emily stepped closer to me and gasped. I groaned and nodded my head.
"Now, I regret thinking that I wanted to tell more people." I shook my head in regret and Emily put her hand on my back.
"This is so amazing Brooke." Her reply startled me. I stood up straight and looked at her. She was smiling, like crazy.
"Emily, are you okay?" I laughed and she raised her eyebrows. "You were always against teen pregnancy and babies before marriage, what happened?"
"I grew up." Emily smirked and I chuckled. I massaged my forehead and turned away from her. "You know... You should try to be less obvious, I've been in Australia less than 30 minutes and I already know you're pregnant."
"You just know me too well."
Emily and I spent hours discussing our latest news. She told me more about back home and I explained everything that happened here. It all seemed odd. I went from seeing her everyday to seeing her now for the first time in over 4 months. She wanted to meet Ashton as well, but I haven't even told Ashton about Emily yet and that makes it awkward. Emily eventually got tired and I showed her to the guest room, which might I add, is bigger than mine. She would probably sleep for the rest of the evening and night. As soon as I got in to my room, I rang Ashton. His voice was all I needed right now."You know it's not my problem you disagree with this, just fuck off.... Hey Brooke." Ashton shouted away from the phone and then spoke to me. I sat on my bed and switched on the TV.
"You alright?" I worried and I heard a door slam. Ashton was in his truck.
"I'm fine, my dad found out that's all." Ashton chuckled and I sighed. "You okay?"
"My friend Emily came from L.A. today, she's staying for a few days to weeks. It's just everything seems to be going so quickly. I don't know." I groaned and I could feel him smile.
"I'm coming over. I need a cuddle." Ashton explained and I smiled.
"You know, cuddling brings down your reputation about 40%. You're meant to be a bad boy. Bad boys don't cuddle." I smirked and he laughed loudly.
"Yeah but tell me one bad boy you know that has a girlfriend as beautiful as you." Ashton charmed. I rolled my eyes.
"Hurry up." I laughed once more and hung up. It wasn't until I stood up that I realised how tired I was. I groaned and say back down. I flicked Keeping Up With The Kardashians on and tucked myself into bed.
