It was 11pm and Abi had curled up with a book, on the sofa in her favourite shorty pyjamas, having turned down a night out with Caitlinn and her friends.
A few chapters into her book, her reading was interrupted by her phone ringing. An unknown number lit up her screen.
"Hello?" Abi answered.
"Hi Abi. It's Chappo. Is Troy with you?"
"No. I thought he was going out with you guys after work tonight?" She said, confused.
In the background, she thought she heard Hoppo asking Chappo, "Is he there?" Her heart rate spiked as worry set in.
"Chappo. What's going on?"
"We had a drowning near close today. Troy pulled her from the water and was part of the resus but she didn't make it. He was real quiet. He always finds a resus hard but its the first where he's pulled the person out himself. He's blaming himself. We dragged him out, but about 10 he told me he needed to be alone for a bit and was heading home. When I got back he wasn't here. He's not answering his phone. Hops phoned his family, and he's not there."
