Leaving their Finnish counterparts was harder than Abi expected. Their quirky sense of humour and open friendliness had made her feel surprisingly at home.
With some free time on the schedule they abandoned Hoppo and the film crew and headed for Gothenburg and the Liseburg amusement park.
Troy baulked as they stepped off the bus and he saw some of the huge rides.
"Come on!" Abi excitedly called as her, Corey and Reidy joined the crowd entering the park, laughing at Troy and Maxi as they hung back.
They made straight for the largest roller coaster. Troy was unusually quiet in the line. Reidy ribbed him as they watched the coaster speed round and loop the loop.
"Not sweet." Declared Maxi and made to bail but Abi grabbed him by the arm and also blocked Troy who had made to follow Maxi.
"Nope. No escaping!" Abi commanded grinning impishly at the terrified pair.
The closer they got to the front of the line the more nervous Troy became. Abi leant into his side reassuringly.
"Abs, this really isn't my thing." He mumbled.
"Who volunteered me for the helicopter training?" She asked. "This is payback."
Troy submitted quietly and shakily climbed into the coaster beside her.
As the coaster twisted and sped downwards Abi could hear Maxi in front screaming "not sweet!" on repeat. Abi glanced over to see Troy remaining remarkably composed until they entered the loop where he suddenly grabbed her hand and she let out a whoop of exhilarated excitement.
When they climbed out Maxi refused to do it again and Troy agreed. They headed over to join the rapids ride. Abi tucked herself into Troy's side in the round inflatable boat and giggled hysterically when Reidy nearly lost his phone overboard. Already soaked they did the log flume next and Maxi shook himself like a dog after, soaking them even further.
"Let's grab some lunch." Corey suggested and they headed to the many food stands.
Sitting at a picnic bench eating bratwursts they slowly dried off.
"Coaster again next?" Asked Abi innocently.
"They'd chuck up." Laughed Reidy.
"Babe I love you but not enough to do that again." Troy said at the same time.
"Ferris wheel?" She asked.
"'Kay." Was Troy's wary response.
Abi tucked herself into Troy's side and swung her legs as the ferris wheel carriage rose upwards. His arm, slung round her waist, tightened as the carriage swung.
"Babe please don't." He murmured.
Abi let out a soft giggle but stopped swinging her legs and felt Troy's grip loosen as the swinging slowed.
"You can jump off rocks into waves to save people but can't handle heights." She said softly.
"Not the same." Troy replied. He pulled her closer. "This I might get used to though." He
murmured as he pulled her into a kiss.
They reached the top of the ferris wheel and looked out across the park.
"Looking forward to heading to Britain tomorrow?" Troy asked.
"I can't wait to see everyone and show you where I grew up." Abbie replied.
