the next morning came, and i made sure to go to work before i got the chance to see slash. he was passed out on the couch, probably from drinking even more once he got home.

i was the first to get to the diner, so i unlocked the doors and let myself in. i went to the back and looked at myself in the tiny cracked mirror. i looked like a disaster, and i barely got any sleep.

i hid out in the back until more staff arrived and the shop opened. i knew dani wasnt working today, so at least i had mia to rant to. i didnt want to bother her too much though.

"hey lai" mia spoke, coming up to me. "hi" i sighed. "are you okay? you look like disaster" she questioned. "no, i got like no sleep last night" i explained. 

"oh, did something happen?" she delicately asked. "yeah, i got a call at four in the morning...from the jail" i spoke. "oh shit, what happened?"

"duff and slash got arrested...duff said they got in a fight, but it was actually drug possession" i huffed. "oh fuck...does dani know?" "i have no clue...i havent talked to her yet" i shrugged.

speak of the devil, dani came in even though she wasnt on shift today. "hey guys!" dani smiled, coming up to us. "hey" i mumbled. "i didnt know you were working today" mia spoke.

"oh um im not...i was just seeing if either of you knew where duff was? he didnt come home last night" she explained, slight worry written all over her face.

"well laila's got the answer for you...excuse me" mia smiled, noticing customers walk in. "so you know where duff is?" she asked. "well, not exactly...him and slash got arrested last night and i had to bail them out" i started.

"but i dont know where he went after...maybe to one of the guys' place?" i shrugged. "what did they get arrested for?" dani asked. i could sense anger on her, just like i was last night.

"drug possession." "fuck" she sighed, slapping her forehead. "yeah...its fine now though, they shouldnt be getting charged" i nodded. "okay thats good...thanks though. im gonna go check axl and stevens place" she smiled.

i sent her a nod and soon enough she was gone, leaving me alone with my thoughts. well, not for long since it was saturday morning, so lots of people were coming in for breakfast.

three of those people being mom, dad, and rue. "what are you guys doing here?" i asked, walking up to them with a notepad and pencil. "i wanted to see you!" rue smiled.

"thanks rue...anyways what can i get you guys?" i asked, basically already knowing the answer. "chocolate milk." "coffee, black." "anything thats not coffee" dad joked.

i nodded and quickly left the table to get their drinks. when i returned, mom furrowed her brows as she looked at me. "how's your life?" she questioned. weird question, but okay.

"its pretty good" i nodded. "mhm...saul is treating you good?" she confirmed. "its slash, mommy" rue corrected. "yeah, he's treating me great" i nodded with a convincing smile.

"mkay" she shrugged, looking my body up and down. i really hope rue didnt tell them i was pregnant, cause i still hadnt gotten a rage call from her.

i looked towards rue with a knowing look. she just quickly shook her head. i nodded in content and turned back to my parents. "what do you guys want to eat?"
