"rue stop running!" mom scolded, trying to stop ruby from getting lost in the waves of people. when rue made no effort to stop, mom began to pick up her pace, leaving dad and i behind.

"hows life been going for ya?" dad questioned, looking towards me. "pretty good, nothing to complain about" i shrugged, dodging the spilt ice cream on the pavement.

"thats good my girl...any exciting news?" he asked. "uh lets see....oh! duff and dani are engaged" i almost shouted. "already?" he laughed, raising a curious brow.

"eh i think they'll be fine" i shrugged, finally catching up to rue and mom. rue was in line waiting to go on a ride, and mom was there, still scolding her.

"hey sissy! come on the ride with me" rue shouted, gathering my attention. "guess you better go" dad spoke. "yeah" i nodded, sending him a smile before going beside rue.

"-dont do it again!" mom yelled. "mom, its fine...just go with dad" i laughed, lightly shoving her away from us. "i just wanted to get in line before too many people" rue mumbled.

"hey dont worry about it, but be careful...i dont want you to get lost" i smiled down at the child. "yeah, i guess" she shrugged, noticing we were almost at the front of the line.

i looked up at the ride we were about to go on. it was one of them drop towers, which happened to be my least favourite. sure, i loved big rides, but this one always scared me.

"are you nervous?" rue laughed, noticing my movement stiffening up. "no clue what you're talking about" i mumbled, sending her a nervous smile.

we reached the front of the line and got directed to our seats. as we got all buckled in, the nerves really started hitting me. it especially got worse when we were rising through the air.

within seconds, we were falling to our doom. just kidding, i lived- barely. "fuck this ride" i mumbled, exiting with ruby in tow.

"hey mommy! laila was scared" she giggled. "shut up" i groaned, lightly pushing her. "i thought you loved rides?" mom asked. "i do, just not this one" i shrugged.

"okay! ice cream and then home?" dad questioned. "i dont wanna leave" rue whined. "look at those clouds hun, its gonna rain soon" mom spoke, pointing to the sky.

"fine" rue frowned, sulking her head low. "cmon its not the end of the world" i laughed, using her head as an armrest. she aggressively ripped my arm off and held my wrist tightly.

"yknow i was gonna ask if you wanted to stay the night at my place tonight, but nevermind" i shrugged. "wait no! im sorry" she spoke, tightly wrapping her arms around my body.

"please? i wanna see slash" she spoke, looking up at me with hopeful eyes. "fine you can come" i laughed. she nodded in content and let go of my body.

she quickly grabbed my hand and dragged me over to the ice cream booth. mom and dad caught up pretty quickly too. "what do you want?" i asked, looking at the child.

"hmm, chocolate vanilla swirl!" she exclaimed. i told the woman and ordered my ice cream too. i stepped back allowing mom and dad to get theirs and paid before they could.

"i couldve paid" dad spoke, as we headed back to the car. "its no problem, really" i smiled, with a shrug. as we were leaving, i had to practically drag rue away from the park.
