Chapter Thirty One- Maya

The week went on and Romeo seemed to be settling in well, he had seemed to come out of his shell and had shown himself to be a loveable goofball. Kassidy and Romeo seemed to be inseparable, where there was one the other was not far behind. Vic, Andy and Travis had come over to meet the new addition to the family as well as checking up on the older three members of the family. Anyone could see the bond that had formed over the past few days.

Monday seemed to roll around fairly quickly, and Maya and Carina were still waiting to hear back from one of the schools that they had applied to for Kassidy, both of them becoming aware that they only had two more weeks before they needed to return to work. It was something that Maya and Carina had spoken to Kassisy about at length, both of them trying to get some sort of idea about where Kassidy was with schooling. However they were both aware that they wouldn't be fully aware until Kassidy started.

"Kassidy Maeve, come on we need to leave we are running late," Maya called down the hallway trying to quickly get her shoes on so they would be able to leave. Carina had left about 20 minutes ago in order to go grocery shopping, which left Maya to try and get their 13 year old out of the house in order to go to her therapy session.

"Coming!" Kassidy called back, running out of her room and down the hall to meet Maya, her shoes in her hand. The chocolate lab followed behind until Kassidy reached the door and then he went to lay in his bed.

"Okay, shoes on bubs," Maya spoke, trying not to let her anxiety take over her. The older blonde had never liked being late, she was always early for everything. It was something that had been drilled into her for so long that it was kinda a hard habit to break. Maya watched as Kassidy put her shoes on and then grabbed a jacket before telling the blonde that she was ready to go.

The blondes walked down to the car and then made their way to Dr Kellie's office. This was going to be Kassidy's second session with Dr Kellie, it was something they had begun preparing for over the past few sessions so Kassidy seemed more at ease especially in comparison to how she reacted when Kassie had her first solo appointment in the hospital.

"How are you feeling about your appointment bubs?" Maya asked, quickly glancing over at Kassidy before fixing her gaze back on the road.

"Okay," Kassidy said, keeping her answer short as she looked out the window.

"You sure Kass?" Maya questioned, "You know it is okay to be anxious, it's a big step that you are taking today,"

"I'm fine Aunt Maya," Kassidy sighed, continuing to look out the window.

Maya let out a sigh, she knew it was nothing against her but it didn't make it hurt any less. Kassidy was most likely anxious about the appointment, which is why she was being snappy. So she left it. The rest of the drive was silent apart from the music that was playing through the car's radio. Had Carina been in the car with them there was no doubt in Maya's mind that she would be singing along but also getting Kassie to speak about the anxiety that she is feeling. Carina had this way of managing to get both Bishop girls to speak about their feelings, that not many others could do.

Eventually they pulled up to the office and both exited the car to make their way upstairs to the waiting room, Maya and Kassidy following the plan that had been made with the help of Dr Kellie at her last session. Maya would walk Kassidy up to her appointment and then wait until the redheaded doctor came to collect the small blonde, Maya would then leave and come back an hour and half later to pick the small girl up. When it was in writing it looked and sounded easy however to put it into practice would be a completely different matter.

"I'm sorry Aunt Maya," Kassidy whispered as they walked down the corridor, the small girl quickly glancing up at the older blonde.

Maya stopped for a moment and then looked down at the girl, she was confused as to why the girl was apologising, to Maya she didn't think that she had done anything wrong. Yes she was a bit short with her in the car, however Maya was very aware that was due to the appointment.
