Chapter Fifty four - Maya

Two days after the trip to the zoo, both Maya and Carina noticed that both of the girls seemed to not be themselves. Both of them seemed to be lethargic and not wanting to do much. Maya and Carina mainly left them, thinking that they were just recuperating after a few days of social interaction. It wasn't until the middle of the night on what would have been the third day of the girls not being quite right that they came to the realisation of what was wrong with the two teens.

Maya and Carina were in the living room, both of them doing work on their own laptops, both girls had gone to bed early, neither of them had eaten much at dinner which worried both women slightly, but they ended up letting them go. The apartment was quiet apart from the tapping on keyboards and snores that were coming from Romeo. Suddenly coughs came from the girls room, which caused both Maya and Carina to look up from what they were doing, as far as they were aware neither of the girls were sick.

"M-Mommy! M-M-Mamma!" Kassidy cried out, her voice sounded shaky. Both Maya and Carina quickly stood up and went into the girls room to find Kassidy sitting up in her bed, tears rolling down her face, her cheek flushed bright red and the rest of her face pale. When Maya glanced over at Lucie, she didn't look much better, the only difference being that she seemed to be asleep and was curled up under a pile of blankets.

"What's wrong bubba?" Maya asked, as she perched on Kassidy's bed. Maya reached her hand out and placed it on the small blonde's forehead, soorn realising the issue, "Oh, bubba. You've got a fever, come here sweet girl. Car, can you get the thermometer, and check if Lucie has a fever as well?"

"Sì amore mio," Carina said as she began to leave the room, but quickly putting her hand on Lucie's head to get a rough idea if she was running a fever. Much to both Maya and Carina's dismay Lucie was running a fever too.

After a few minutes, Carina came back with a thermometer and medicine knowing that they were going to need it for the girls to help keep their fevers down. Caina checked Lucie first, placing it on her forehead, as soon as it beeped, Carina let out a sigh knowing that Lucie was running a high fever.

"102.4 degrees, Lucie is definitely running a fever." Carina said as she looked over at Maya, who was currently rocking Kassidy from side to side as she whimpered due to the fact that she wasn't feeling well. Carina walked over to Maya and Kassidy to check the small blonde's temperature, "102.2 degrees."

Maya and Carina decided to give both the girls medicine and then see how the girls temperature is after and hour and then move from there. Carina got Kassidy's dosage of the medication, thankful that both girls had water on their bed side tables, and gave it to Maya so Kassidy could take it while she woke up Lucie.

Carina pulled back the four blankets that were piled on top of her and began to rub Lucie's back trying to gently wake her up, it took a few minutes but Lucie's eyes started to slowly open, but as soon as she opened them she closed them again and let out a small whine, almost seeming as though she was in pain.

"Mamma... to bright..." Lucie whimpered, her eyes scrunched shut trying to keep the light out.
"I know mio piccola amore, I know. Can you just sit up for me, so I can give you some medicine," Carina siad, as she continued to rub Lucie's back hoping to wake her up a bit more.

It took a few minutes before Lucie sat up, but her hands went up to her eyes and she pressed the heal of her hands into her eyes still trying to keep the light out. Maya noticed as Carina tried to get Lucie to look at her, so she stood up with Kassidy still in her arms and dimmed the lights just enough so Carina could see what she was doing but also so it wasn't too bright for Lucie.

Once, Carina had placed the two small pills in Lucie's hand she took them fairly easily and then laid back down, her body curling up into a tight ball and tried to pull the blankets up and over her head, trying to warm herself up. However, much to Lucie's dismay, Carina didn't let her knowing that Lucie has running a high fever.
