Chloe

I stared at him incredulously, was he really going to kick me out without giving me some answers? I wasn't one to say that I 'deserved to know' or something like that, but I wanted to know, a lot.

I looked down at his hands, they were clenched into fists and were trembling from the force of his rage. I knew I shouldn't have thought so much on it, but he reminded me more of a scared little boy than an angry one. Then again, I wasn't very good at judging appearances.

"Who is he? That boy in the picture?" my lips formed the words before I could stop myself. For a few brief, tense seconds he merely stared, eyes narrowed as my heart pounded in my chest. For the first time around a boy, I was worried that he was going to hit me.

"I told you to fuck off," he snarled, the intensity of his words making me take a few steps back. Just in case, you know.

I really wanted to die young. "What about that day in the library, you were wearing the same pair of glasses as that boy in the picture, and you were doing your freaking homework even though I have never once seen pass it up—"

Riley took a few angry steps forwards, the force of his movements making me back up as well. I stopped once my back hit a wall, staring up at him in this oh-too-familiar position. I was breathing heavily and so was he, though probably not for the same reasons.

"Stay out of it," he punched the wall beside my head, and I silently noted to myself how cliché this entire scene was. What was his problem? What kind of thing could be so bad that he had to threaten me to keep quiet?

"What are you hiding?" it was probably not the right time to ask.

"I swear to fucking God, just leave me—" his voice caught in his throat as the sound of keys jangling drifted down the hallway. I looked up at his face; his skin was pale and his eyes wide with... Fear?

"Riley! We're home!" his parents were back. Was that why he was so nervous? Because he didn't want his parents to catch him in the house alone with a girl? I met his eyes, mind whirring with questions as his face paled even further.

Thump, thump, thump... Someone was coming down the hall.

"Riley? Where are you, sweetie?" the boy in question gulped hard, his chest heaving as his eyes darted around the room, searching for something. An escape route, perhaps?

"What the—" in a single fluid movement I was off the wall and being dragged across the room, tripping over my own feet as Riley pulled me out the door and slammed me against the outside wall with superhuman speed. I leaned against it for a few seconds, huffing and panting to regain the breath that had been knocked out of me. I turned my head and looked at the corner of the end of the hallway; there wasn't anyone there, yet.

And then the tip of a foot appeared and my eyes widened, it was Riley's mum! I turned back to Riley and opened my eyes, just about to warn him about the approach of his parent when he wrapped a well-muscled arm around my waist and used his other hand to pull my chin up. His lips caught mine in a heart-racing kiss, squeezing my body to mould against his.

His mum was right around the corner! I pushed at him but to no avail, I was still caught in his embrace. I prayed to god that his mum wouldn't have too extreme a reaction upon catching her son heavily making out with a girl in their hallway...
