I leaned my head on my hand as the teacher in front rambled on about English rules. I knew all of this already, why was it necessary to repeat it every year?

I yawned widely and tried to cover it up with a cough; too late, the teacher had already spotted me. I groaned inwardly, hoping that she wasn't going to make me recite some poem or something. I wasn't in the mood for that shit right now.

"Ms. Holt, I didn't realise that my lessons were enough of a bore to you to put you to sleep," the sentence itself seemed casual enough, but I could see images of my death flashing in her eyes, "perhaps we should wake you up a bit."

Oh please no, I was so relaxed at the moment.

"Please read page-"

"Miss! I don't understand this part!" Katya's hand shot into the air as she shouted to draw the teacher's attention to her. I appreciated her efforts, but if there was one thing that she lacked it was subtlety, a blind rat could tell what she was trying to do.

"Ms. James, please do not shout in my class," heh, it worked. The teacher seemed to momentarily forget about me as she made her way past me over to Katya's seat, leaning over the desk as she attempted to explain the part that she 'did not understand'.

"Now is there anyone who still does not understand?" she looked around the class, "no? Okay, can everyone flip to page 45 and do the questions into your exercise books."

Loud groans and shuffling noises filled the room as people reached into their bags to take out their books. Soon enough the teacher sat herself down at her desk and flipped open her laptop, typing furiously.

I turned around in my seat to look at Mikaela and Katya; English theory was the one class that our homeroom all had together. "Hey Mikaela, you alright?"

She just shrugged before turning back to her work. What was up with her? She was acting like how she had been before the three of us became friends, I thought that we had finally brought her out of her shell, why had she retracted? I turned to Katya but she averted her gaze, picking up her pen and chewing on the end.

Well, they'll tell me when they want to tell me. A stab of jealously jabbed at my heart, I was jealous that they were keeping secrets together. I couldn't let it get to me though, I was going to be a good friend.

I sighed, whipping back around to face my own desk. I stared at the book and groaned inwardly; this was not going to be fun.

~~~-*-~~~
My shoes slapped against the linoleum as I walked through the halls, it was pretty quiet considering it was lunch time. Then again, this was the English block, it was pretty far away from the cafeteria. The hall was pretty much deserted, seeing as how everyone had dashed off to the cafeteria the second the bell had gone. I wasn't going to run into anyone here, at least I hoped.
Clink. my pen fell to the floor as I bumped into a boy, a very tall boy. Oh for the love of god, please not be him...
Dante's blue eyes widened as they met mine, and I cringed inside at how awkward this was. I haven't spoken to him since our little fight, right about now I wished that I had. He looked at me for a second before clearing his throat and turning back to his friends; was he going to just walk away?
