Chloe

"Tell me why we are going this way again? We literally have no more classes here, why are we going this way?" I asked, trailing after Mikaela and Katya suspiciously. Those two have always liked to meddle, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were quietly cooking up some sort of scheme beneath their jumpers as they lured me into their trap.

Katya turned to look at me and shrugged nonchalantly. "You know, just some stuff you know, nothing too important," her tone was innocent and devoid of any hidden ulterior motive, but she was a good actor, so I wouldn't believe her just quite yet. I narrowed my eyes at her and she grinned, eyebrows waggling.

"Don't look so edgy, Chloe, you're making yourself look constipated," Mikaela hummed and I gasped in offence, scowling at her as Katya cackled. We continued to walk, and just as we walked past the Year 11's exam hall, the puzzle pieces clicked together in my head.

I quickened my pace and grabbed Katya by the arm, eyes wide. "You little turd!" I hissed, noting the sign on the door saying to keep quiet. She winked at me and halted her steps, plopping her bags over by one of the pillars and leaning against it casually. My jaw fell slack—how could she do this to me!

Today was the last day of the Year 11's GCSEs—and if you didn't know, Theo is a Year 11. This could end quite badly... Mikaela followed Katya's lead and sat down crosslegged by her feet, smiling at me sweetly as if they weren't planning on ruining my life.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, Chloe, we're just innocently taking a rest here after out long trek from the main building, what are you trying to imply here?" Mikaela grinned, smoothing out her hair and adjusting her skirt. She raised an eyebrow at me as if daring me to continue, one corner of her mouth turned up into a small smirk.

I glowered at the both of them before looking in the direction of where we came, wondering how far I could get away before these two caught me and dragged me back. My eyes darted to them, and back to the building, and quick as lightning, I made my run for it. Carrying a bunch of heavy bags and books didn't make my escape any faster, and since they had both dropped their stuff by the pillar, they caught up to me easily.

"And where do you think you're going, dear Chloe," Katya snickered as she held onto my right arm tightly, digging her nails in slightly as warning flashed in her eyes.

I glanced at my other side and met Mikaela's blue eyes tentatively. "Yes, Chloe, where in the world would you want to be other than with us?"

I groaned loudly as they danced us back to the hall, laughing and chattering as I basically walked the plank of death. I didn't want to be around him when he was around his 'friends' and he wasn't him, I didn't like that person, I didn't even want to see him like that. Who knew how he'd be with me when surrounded by all his friends, and I certainly wasn't in any hurry to find out.

BANG! The doors to the exam hall swung open and a large bunch of cheering Year 11s swarmed out, all of them looking haggard and worn and tired, but happy at the same time. I didn't question why—that had been the very last GCSE for them, their very last exam of KS4. I squeezed my eyes closed, not him to see me.

Honestly, did I think I was an ostrich? Close my eyes and he wouldn't see me?

Idiot.
