If there had ever existed a notion in my mind that Riley wasn't half that bad, it had definitely poofed out of existence by now. I was so sick of his phone quietly vibrating beneath his desk, and the not-one-but-many scandalous images that he received along with them.
"Eyes on the board, sicko," I hissed, not noticing the tightness with which I gripped my pen.
"What? Did I get your knickers in a twist?" He turned to me and said as my History teacher-who I now knew to named Mr. Hancock-turned back to the board. I held back the growl that was slowly building at the back of my throat.
"Mr. Tether, is there anything you would like to share with the class?" Mr. Hancock said, eyeing him as he suddenly noticed our close proximity with each other.
"Oh it's nothing Mr. Hancock... I was just asking Chloe how she manages to take down her notes so quickly." Riley lied, so smoothly that it even seemed like the truth for a moment.
"Is that true Chloe?" Mr. Hancock asked, suspicion lacing his words. Although most of the teachers knew of Riley's reputation, none could actually find any proof of wrongdoings, since no one had ever dared to rat him out.
"No, sir, he's been texting a bunch of girls since the start of class," I said to Mr. Hancock without thinking twice. I smiled at the both of them, albeit to Riley a slightly more devilish one. Riley shot me a death glare, but I continued to grin at him.
"I see, Mr. Tether, detention after school, my office." Mr. Hancock grunted, turning back to the board and ignoring Riley's complaints.
"You'll never outsmart me, Riley, remember that," I whispered to him as my hand continued to scribble across the page of my notebook, taking down my history notes.
"Class! Can anyone remember the meaning of Chronological Order?" Mr. Hancock bellowed to the class, seeking for any guilty looking eyes. Rule #1 of the classroom, never look guilty in front of the teacher, even if you are.
A while later, Mr. Hancock released us for our next class. He shooed us away with a wave of his hand. He was really short so most of the students were taller than him, but just a single glare of his made most people cower in their seats.
"Mikaela COME ON!!!" I yelled to Mikaela, the sound falling upon emptiness and I realised that most of the students had already filed out, including Mikaela.
"Chloe! Wait!" Riley called out from somewhere behind me. I hurried away, not wanting to get guilt-tripped over telltale-ing on him to the teacher. Knowing me, he'd probably manage to make me feel bad enough for him to take me out on a date. That would be disastrous.
I shuffled away quickly, thanking the lords that Katya and Mikaela had convinced me to join the cheer-squad last year. The training was tough, and it made me strong, and evidently fast enough to evade Riley's well-muscled clutches.
As I ran down the halls, I crashed into a tall, warm body. We both fell to the ground, which made my head spin. I looked up blearily and met Katya's blue-green eyes, which were currently narrowed in a grimace. The books that were previously in my arms were scattered across the floor, and I groaned as I crawled towards the nearest one. Katya was sprawled ungracefully along the linoleum, and the skirt of her uniform had ridden up just enough for her underwear to peek through, her red, lacy underwear.
