Chloe

I broke up with my boyfriend yesterday. What am I doing here?

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't sad, but I was sort of relieved, in a sense. Being with Dante had felt nice, but more like friendship than anything else. It would be like me kissing Mikaela or Katya, it worked but it didn't.

Very weird metaphor.

I hoped that I haven't lost Dante as a friend, because that would suck.

I suppose that I should be moving on quickly, because I had been the one to break up with him, so I had no right to feel sad for too long. That was precisely the reason why I was standing in front of Katya's door right now, finger hovering above the doorbell.

Katya had invited both Mikaela and I over to meet her new boyfriend, it must be pretty serious, if she wanted us to meet him. Katya has gone through boyfriend after boyfriend these few years, none of them lasting more than a week. She was pretty and she was fun to be around: what every guy our age---and occasionally older--wanted.

I pressed the doorbell and waited, resisting the urge to tap my foot. I heard footfalls echo from the other side of the door, and within a few seconds the door was pulled open and I came face to face with Mikaela's grinning face. Her blonde hair was swept into a side parting in what should have been a messy and sloppy way, but she just managed to look pretty anyways.

She looked happy to see me, and also a little relieved, though I had no idea why.

"Oh gosh, Chloe, thank goodness you're here, I was dying without you!" she exclaimed, grabbing me by the arm and yanking me inside, kicking the door shut behind us. I stared at her wide-eyed: she has never acted like this before.

She held onto my arm as we walked into the main sitting room, my gaze falling upon the two figures sitting on the couch in front of the TV. Katya was sitting on Nik's lap, her arms wrapped around his neck as the...for lack of a less crude word...made-out.

I looked back at Mikaela and understood why she looked so relieved; I wouldn't want to have to watch my friend make-out with her boyfriend on the couch, at least by myself. There was a movie playing on the TV in the background, though I doubt either one of them were paying even the slightest amount of attention to it.

Hmm... Avatar... A classic.

"So what do we do now!—" Mikaela suddenly yanked me again, pulling me into a side room and clicking the door shut behind us. I looked around the room, curious as to why we were currently standing in it. "Mikaela, why are we in the bathroom?"

Mikaela's eyes flashed towards the toilet over to the side and she blushed slightly. "Ignore our location, I just need to tell you that—"

"Because you know that I just broke up with Dante yesterday and I'm not quite ready to accept your advances," I joked, laughing at her flushed face.

"No! Listen to me, Chloe! I need to tell you—"

"I know you love me, Mikaela, but I just don't feel the same way," she was probably getting so annoyed with me, but that was fine. It felt nice to joke around and stuff, there has been too much seriousness these past few days.

"Chloe! I need to tell you that Riley is—" the door swung open and we came face to face with the one other boy I had been avoiding. Theo... His eyes met mine and they widened, the shock registering on his face as he looked down at me. I felt my jaw drop and I continued to stare at him, not really knowing what to do.
