Chloe
The holidays had ended way, way too soon. Then again, there had only been two days left after that incident. I shook my head fiercely and sighed to myself; I haven't spoken to Dante since that day, I neither had the courage nor the amount of emotional control to do so.
Every time I thought about him, I wouldn't be able to push away the images of him and her standing in the entranceway of his house, hugging.
Anger flared up in me and I scowled.
Let's just say that I tried not to do that too often.
I continued to make my way down the hallway to my form room, eyes trailed on the ground.
"Chloe, talk to us..." Mikaela placed her hand on my shoulder from the back seat. I subtly shrugged it off, turning away from them and staring out of the car window. I heard Mikaela sigh, before hearing Katya yelp as a soft fwack sound filled the awkward silence of Katya's car.
"Chloe, do you know why Katy had disappeared that time?" Katya muttered softly, not taking her eyes off the road. I looked at her out of the corner of my eye and shook my head, knowing that she could see me.
Mikaela cleared her throat. "Katy's mum was murdered, right in front of her," my throat clenched. "Katy had to watch her mum get her throat slit only minutes before the police came, I don't know the details but my dad had said that the intruders had been torturing her before they killed her for at least an hour."
Is that why she didn't speak?
"So there's probably nothing going on, Chloe..." Katya sneaked a glance at me and smiled softly. "It's just probably, I don't know, seeking comfort I guess."
I couldn't help the disbelieving laugh that escaped my lips. "Seeking comfort. Oh I see, there's nothing to worry about, it's just a very pretty scarred-past blondie seeking comfort from my boyfriend," I stared down at her out of the corner of my eye. "How silly of me to fret."
"Don't be like that, Chloe..." Mikaela whispered, her forehead creased and her lips in a pout. Be like what?
Could I really help that I pitied the girl I was jealous of.
I thought back to the sheer amount of ice cream I had eaten after getting home that day. i mean, I couldn't really do anything else except eat and feel sorry for myself. I sighed, I was turning into one of those lovesick loonies...
I heard a loud guffaw from the end of the hall and I looked up, spirits lifting the moment the bright blond hair caught my eye. I had spent a lot of time chatting with Riley over Skype the last few days, and I think our relationship-completely platonic of course-has really progressed. He's really...sweet, when he's being Theo and not Riley.
Up until this stage I still can't bring myself to call him Theo; for God's sake I just got used to calling him Riley.
He lifted his head and met my eye, grinning to himself and winking at me. I flushed red, averting my gaze and picking up my pace.
"So explain to me again: Hades cut up Kronos-" I said slowly, trying to recall the Greek mythology lesson he had subjected me to for the last fifteen minutes.
