"For fuck's sake, Mikaela, let me win just one fucking time won't you!" Katya groaned as Mikaela bought yet another lot of expensive property—with equally expensive rent. Mikaela grinned to herself before handing over her credit card to me to bank in.

I accepted the card and inputed the amount of money into the machine, slotting the card in and deducting from the rather large number shown on the display. I wasn't really in the mood, which was the reason why I had decided to be the banker and watch my two friends war it out instead of participating myself.

It had been five days since the incident with Riley, it now being the weekend. Mikaela and I were sleeping over at Katya's—parentless—house, seeing as how Katya was thinking that I was acting depressed and had roped in the innocent Mikaela to join her on her quest to cheer me up.

Wasn't really working, though it was funny to watch Katya struggle.

"Who suggested this game in the first place?" I asked, lazily pressing buttons on the credit card machine as Katya groaned once more.

Mikaela laughed softly to herself. "Katya did, actually. I was against playing Monopoly, I wanted to play Infamous: Second Son on her brother's PS4," Mikaela cleared her throat loudly as Katya moved her piece forwards two steps and landed on one of Mikaela's properties, trying to subtly hide her credit card to avoid yet another payment.

"I don't understand, I've been practicing with Kaden all Christmas, I thought that I would finally be able to beat you!" Katya moaned as she handed over her card, whimpering softly as her current balance dropped quite significantly and Mikaela's grew.

"That'll be ten thousand, Chloe," Mikaela used softly, ignoring Katya's complaints. Kaden was Katya's elder brother, he was already doing his degree in some fancy university so we never saw him around ours. I didn't know him very well, only ever seeing him as a big scary Year 13 while I was still a Year 9.

While I was a Year 9, Theo—I had finally decided to call him that--was a Year 10...

"CHLOE!" I jumped up and nearly spilt the bowl of chips I had on my lap. I looked up towards Katya who was holding out her card expectantly at me.

My eyes widened. "What happened?" I asked, though judging by Katya's sour expression and Mikaela's smug one, I could kind of guess.

"She owes me another fifteen thousand," Mikaela grinned. Katya exhaled loudly before grabbing a pillow from somewhere off to the side and screaming into it.

~~~-*-~~~
Mikaela had won, no surprise.
I lay back on Katya's bed and stared up at the ceiling, my chest aching. I had started to think about Dante and Theo again, heart throbbing painfully against my ribs.
"Chloe for god's sake, won't you tell us what the goddamn problem is?" Katya sat herself down on the bed beside me, creating a dip in the mattress.
"Yes, Chloe, you can tell us anything..." Mikaela sat down on my other side, stroking my hair with her soft, gentle hands.
I shook my head firmly, turning over onto my stomach and groaning into the pillow. I didn't want to tell them, they would probably think I was stupid.
