Nick was tattooing a client and he was teaching me a lesson about packing on colors. I paid attention closely to what he was doing.

"So… I was wondering… What is Jess' favorite restaurant?" Nick asked while keeping his eyes on his work.

"She really loves pasta. Why?"

"I wanted to invite her some day. We went hiking the other day and we had a blast, but I want something more… official, serious, you know… "

"Oh, you like her,huh?"

"What if I do?"

"Wow. That's interesting. You should ask her out."

"That's the plan when I work up the courage to do so."

"Don't wait until it's too late."

"Does she have a crush on someone?"

"Except for Synyster Gates? I don't think so."

"I cannot compete. Hell, I would fight her for him."

We chuckled.

"For real though, is there something going on between the two of them?" Nick questioned.

"I really don't know. I just know they're friends now. You should ask her directly about that." I shrugged.

"I will, someday… What about your love life? I heard someone wrote you a real letter this time." Nick asked me.

"Don't talk to me about it."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing… and everything."

"Care to elaborate?"

"My feelings changed. This letter just left me confused AF."

"I'm sure they changed. You thought for a good while he was over you. But now, you have to figure out if they can come back or not.."

"Yeah, you’re right…" I sighed.

As we were closing, Matthew, Zacky's brother, walked into the shop and asked for me.

"Hi" He greeted me.

"Hi Matthew. How did you find me?"

"Zacky told me you were working here. "

“Oh… so you guys talked about me.”

“He did, a little… I wanted to come and… clarify something with you.”

Silence… How bad could it be that he had to come here to talk to me?

"Did you tell him about what happened?" I asked.

"I did not. I didn't know you dated my brother, otherwise I would've never kissed you."

"Same. I feel so bad. I didn't know either."

“The thing is… my brother is in love with you.”

“I figured.”

“So… am I telling him? I don’t want to hide things from him.”

“Please, don’t. I’ll figure out a way to tell him myself soon... I want him to hear it from me, and preferably not over the phone.”

“Okay… Fine. I'll let you do it.”

Matthew left after talking for a little bit and I went home with Nick.

…

The next weekend, I was at my parent’s house. They threw me a small birthday party last night. It was a small gathering since my dad was tired. His condition has gotten worse since the last time we saw each other, mostly because of chemo treatments.
