Johnny noticed I had a shocked look on my face.
"Have you seen a zombie?" He joked.
"She saw Zacky's dick, that's why" The Rev laughed.
"No, it's you." I grabbed his arm.
"You've never seen my dick, Ma'am," The Rev looked confused. " Or, have you?"
"God, Jimmy..." I said.
"Yes that is my name, indeed."
"Oh my god, it is really you. I almost didn't recognize you. I'm Alissa, Mary's daughter, you know, Barbara's friend. "
"Shut the hell up." He said, pulling me into a hug after looking at me for a few seconds. "No way, I certainly didn't recognize you. How did you find her?" He looked at Zacky, he was still hugging me. "She was my first fan, beside my parents" he laughed.
"How do you know each other?" Zacky asked.
"Our moms were close friends, so were we when we were kids, despite the age difference. That was before I moved to Huntington Beach" Jimmy explained. He looked at me again. " You aged beautifully. Jesus Christ" He added.
"Thanks, so did you." I looked at him, his style changed too, even though he still had that childish expression on his face. "Oh my god. I can't believe I found you. I can't wait to tell my mom about this, she's not gonna believe me" I turned to Zacky " Remember the friend I was talking to you about when we were in the park. He's the friend. That was like six, seven years ago, maybe?"
"Okay, I'm kinda jealous right now." Zacky said.
"Don't be. You made it happen. Thank you. " I hugged Zacky.
Jimmy and I exchanged our cell phone numbers, then enjoyed the show. Zacky put his arm around my shoulder as we danced and jumped to the music. We had so much fun, I couldn't care less about anything, I felt free and happier than I've been in the past year or so.
Metallica rocked the stage and Johnny announced we were going backstage afterwards, even though the guys didn't have backstage passes. We met two security guards on our way. Our request was declined at first. The Rev told one guard to get fucked, this was not going to end well. Johnny played it cool, making apologies for his friend's manners then talked to the guard who left briefly.
"What bullshit did you say to him?" Zacky asked Johnny.
" I said we are doing Metallica's opening in a few months."
"Is that even true?" Zacky whispered.
"Yeah, we got the call this morning, we were gonna tell you, well, right now I guess..." The Rev said.
"That's a show I won't wanna miss" I faced Zacky, clearly excited by the news. "I had so much fun tonight. Thanks again for bringing me. I forgot how good it felt to just enjoy music live."
"Thank you for joining me. You are not leaving yet, are you ?" Zacky asked. "Do you want me to take you home?"
"I can stay a little longer. I have work tomorrow, so I just can't party until 3 am" I chuckled.
The security guy came back and let all of us through. We were greeted by James and Lars who welcomed us with beers.
"Hey! Come on in you guys." James said. He seemed on a post-show adrenaline rush. "Make yourself comfortable." He brought us beers immediately.
We talked for a while with the band, then
I sat down on one of the sofas with Jimmy, while Zacky and Johnny were still talking with their idols."They are talking to their idols, like I am" I smiled at Jimmy. "How are you?"
"I am on cloud nine, since our last album came out." He responded.
"It is so good. Zacky made me listen to it. Now that I know you're in it, I am even prouder. I knew you were going to make music. So, how did you meet them?"
"We met during one of our summer vacations in HB, years before I moved there. So I already had them as friends, we got into a lot of trouble and we started a band, thank god we had music. I started a band with Brian pre-Avenged. This was a couple of months before I moved. I recorded an album when I got there. "
"Yeah, Pinky Smooth or something like that right? I kinda recall, this band was so crazy, in a good way, just like you." I grinned.
"Pinkly Smooth, yeah" he giggled.
"You grew out your blond spiky hairs" I said, running my fingers through his black, long hair. "You're a hot rockstar now."
"Yes... So, anyway. What about you? You look stunning with your red hair. " He looked at me, he smiled. "What did you become?"
"Oh, stop it, you are gonna make me blush." I was already blushing. I told him how I applied to college here because of my dad, my dream job, and how I moved to LA.
" Yeah, I remember you were always drawing something. I didn't think I would ever see you again. I kinda did for the first year or so, but when our moms stopped calling each other so often, life happened and we went our different ways. Zacky brought us together, if that is not destiny, I don't know what is."
"You're right. Let's not go our separate ways again. Let's keep in touch now that we're both grown ups."
"Alright. So... what about him?"
"What about him?"
I glanced at Zacky, he saw me and we exchanged a smile.
"Don't do that. What is going on between the two of you?" Jimmy asked.
"Nothing... yet. I am serious." I stated, defensively, while he gave me a look of disbelief.
"Okay, let's say it is true, he seems serious about you. He talked to us about you, the girl who didn't know about him as a famous guitar player, who he met in college, so it was not a waste of his time after all. We heard it all."
"He said all that?"
"Sure as hell did. Are you serious about him?"
Was I ? Was I ready for something more?
"I mean, I like him a lot. He is attractive, he's kind, but I just got out of a messy relationship. I broke up with my ex two weeks ago, I don't know how ready I am to fall in love again. I know myself, I know I am insecure of being alone. I don't want to haste into a relationship just because I've never been alone. Not that it's something like that with him, I really like him, but I want to make things the right way this time. Does that make sense?" I just poured my heart out to Jimmy.
"Yeah, absolutely."
"What about you ? Is your heart taken?" I asked.
"I don't really do relationships, for now at least. The last one ended badly. " He told me.
Zacky came to sit with us on the sofa, bringing us beers. He seemed tipsy. I looked at my phone and it was past eleven. I needed to go home. Zacky noticed.
"You are definitely not driving back by yourself." I told him.
"Who's gonna drive you then? Fuck. I am such an idiot." Zacky sighed.
We all laughed.
