Zacky left, then I continued searching for a job. The day after, I received a text from him, just as he said he would.

"Meet me at the beach? Zacky xx"

"Which one? You do realize I still need Maps to get to college right ?"

"Where are you? I'm picking you up."

"I'm home."

I texted him my address, and he showed up 15 minutes later. I got out the door.

"Hey ! Can you really call yourself a California girl if you can't locate the beaches? " He said, grinning.

"Hey, laugh all you want. I didn't live near the coast up until now, unlike you."

"Get in". He tapped on the seat. I complied.

"By the way, let's talk about this brand new car of yours and the fact that you study to get another one. You are RICH rich. Are you a PIMP or something? "

He bursted into laughter. "So, you didn't Google me then ? Could have avoided all that stress."

"I told you already, it is boring. I'm getting used to this mystery. I kinda like it. Living dangerously. "

He really wanted me to Google him. What was he, a famous rockstar full of himself? He was so approachable though and I was so drawn to him...

He parked at the beach. We looked for a calm spot, Zacky brought towels that he unrolled on the sand.

"So, you brought your swimsuit?"

"One can only hope." I said, smirking.

"I wasn't thinking of anything." He said, faking being offended.

"Of course you were."

"Well, now that you are mentioning it... But ..."

"I knew it. " I smiled, amused, interrupting him.

"I... I wasn't done talking."

"So, you DON'T want to see me in a bathing suit, then?"

"I am now pleading the fifth."

" No further questions, your honor. I have all my answers."

The vibe was definitely flirty now. I lost myself in his eyes for a second, but then thinked about how I wasn't yet single. I threw him a piece of wood I found in the sand.

" You really are something huh... You are gonna regret this."

I got up as he tried to catch me. He ran after me and offered to make peace after a while if I agreed to grab a drink with him at the beach bar.

"Of course, yes, I surrender!"

We sat and talked there until nightfall while drinking. We learned about each other's family and laughed, sharing our stories, mine and his with his friends. Whatever that night meant, It made me realize I had to end my 3 year relationship as soon as I could. Love wasn't about crying all the time, it was supposed to be good too. My heart was breaking just thinking about it.

"So, why this invitation today?" I asked, seriously.

"Let's just say, you are not the worst company I have had in quite some time. And it is getting lonely. "

"Is that it, huh ?" I smiled.

I looked down at my phone to notice it was ten thirty. I yawned. The lack of sleep was catching up with me.

"Let's go. I'll get you home" Zacky said.

So he did. We were in my driveway. As I got out of his car...

"Good night, Zack..."

"Good night to you. Try to get some sleep for once.".

"Will do."
