I looked at my phone while waiting for my friend at the LAX airport. We were heading to Huntington Beach for the day, and most likely the night. Jimmy was late, but he texted me his plane had landed. He was supposedly still waiting for his luggage. How big his suitcase needed to be for a two days and one night trip ? Anyway, sooner than later, the tall lanky dude I called my best friend walked towards me with the biggest grin on his face.

"Come here."

He placed his arms around me and hugged me.

"I've missed you." He said.

"I'm so happy to see you". I was sincere. My heart was racing. Forget my feelings for him : mission failed.

After a few seconds, Jimmy let go of that hug and looked at me while still smiling. Feeling intimidated, I broke eye contact and began to walk up to my car to open the trunk.

"Woo…new tattoo?"

Jimmy was looking down at my thigh.

"Yeah."

"This is stunning work, as usual."

"Thank you."

"Is it your drawing?"

"Inspired by it, yeah." I looked at him. "I need to show you something."

I took off my hoodie and stretched my arm so we could see the inner part and the word dedicated to him.

"Here." I pointed to the word.

"What, Liss… This is crazy." He said in astonishment. He squeezed my arm and looked at it closer. "Why?" He then looked at me seriously.

"Oh, I shouldn't have…You don't like it. I just-"

"No… no… it's not what I meant. It means the world. I just don't know what I did to deserve this."

"I did it for our friendship and because you've inspired me so much just by the fact that you were always so passionate about life and everything you do. I know this is cheesy but you make me a better person and artist for it. You are the most creative, passionate, dedicated, happy person and I swear to god you are my favorite person on this planet. "

Jimmy seemed moved by all my rambling, because he hugged me so tight I couldn't breathe. When I started laughing, he loosened up that hug a little, but still held me tight while putting a hand in my hair, making me lay my head on him. I wrapped my arms around his waist.

"Jesus Christ, let's go before I cry, god damn it."

"Yeah, we're already late. Your parents will be worried."

He put his suitcase in the trunk and sat in the passenger side of the car. We were on our way … Jimmy asked about my father, so I proceeded to tell him about all that happened since the last time we saw each other. I then felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked over my shoulder to peek at him briefly and his eyes locked in mine. He was focused on every word I was saying and suddenly I felt self-conscious for a reason. I quickly looked away, thank god I had the excuse of not wanting to cause an accident on the highway.

"I'm so sorry Ali, I hope you have better news soon." He said before his hand reached out to mine, who was resting on the stick shift.

'Don't freak out, don't freak out', I kept telling myself . He was touchy. That's how he was. 'He is acting normal, and you are not. You have to talk about something else.'

"So…better news. I visited my new house."

"Oh, amazing. Where is it?"

"It is in HB, actually."
