Chapter 3: Trying

Okay, do it now! Isabelle's wolf, Sarah, yelled inside her head, remember my instructions on how to do it and do it now!

Isabelle nodded and took a deep breath closing her eyes. It was now or never and this was the first time she was actually trying it. Keeping her eyes closed tight, she focused an image inside her brain on how she wanted to be. After what felt like forever, Isabelle asked Sarah, did I do it?

Isabelle could just feel Sarah shaking her head, no, you didn't, but keep trying, you were so close. I'll stop you when you're done.

Isabelle only sighed but nodded to herself and closed her eyes again, focusing on becoming it.

Okay stop! Sarah yelled suddenly in her head and Isabelle snapped her eyes open at the sound. She looked down at herself and told Sarah, I don't think I'm invisible. I can still see myself.

Sarah only laughed, of course you can see yourself. If you didn't, how would you know where to put your hands or your feet? You can see yourself, but the outside world can't. Now imagine yourself again where anyone can see you.

Isabelle did as she was told and she quickly became visible to the world around her. Did I do that right?

Yes, now do it again but this time, focus but by keeping your eyes open, Sarah replied.

Isabelle did it again and soon, as she kept practicing, she was able to do it in only a mere second. How long will I be able to hold this? she asked after a while.

The longest will be up to an hour. After an hour, you will become visible again but you can quickly change back to being invisible after a minute. My advice for while we are escaping is whenever you get the chance of not being spotted, change back so you can start your time over and you are not forced to stay visible for a minute or more.

Great, that's good to know. But how am I even able to do this? It's not right that I can turn whenever I want to be invisible, so how is it possible?

I'll tell you later, Sarah answered, right now, all we are worried about is getting out of here. Sleep now and get some rest. You'll need your energy tomorrow for when that guy comes again. Sarah all but spat in her head when mentioning 'that guy'.

Isabelle yawned, feeling tired and laid down on her small cot, her arm resting over her baby bump as she closed her eyes with Jared's face pictured in her mind.

I'm coming Jared, I'm coming soon, was her last thought before she fell asleep.

Jared wasn't giving up even if Sarah had told him that they would be escaping soon. He still continued to look over maps with Luke and Daniel by his side.

Abby rarely ever left Luke's side, she was just so heart broken over this whole ordeal. She would barely eat or sleep, much like Jared himself, but Luke had to force her to eat most of the time. Abby was getting better though, Jared could see that.

Jared kept reminding himself that he had to eat and stay strong for Isabelle when he finally found her to protect her and keep her safe. He couldn't sleep at night anymore because it just wasn't the same without his mate by his side, but he kept trying, for her.

Sam, Jared's wolf, was just as heartbroken over this as Jared was but instead of being more weak, he was becoming more antsy every second Isabelle wasn't by his side. It was like he knew something about her that Jared didn't even know which made him curious.

I am coming Isabelle, don't you worry, Jared said desperately trying to reach to her through mind link even if he knew it wouldn't work. He wasn't going to give up hope, no matter how badly everything was against him.

Jared was currently looking over maps again, looking over the place where they haven't gone yet. Seeing something odd, Jared pointed out something to both Luke and Daniel who were currently with him doing the same. "That place looks a bit weird, plus we haven't gone there yet. I'm going to take a patrol and cheek it out tomorrow." It was already to late at night to go over there and check it out, and if Isabelle was there, he needed his sleep. But after all this time, he doubted she was even there, but he wasn't going to give up hope, she could be there and that was good enough for him to go and try.

Daniel nodded at this, "okay, you can go there. I'm coming with you. I'll also get one or two other people to come with us just in case she is there. But go get some sleep, you need it."

"I was just about to do that," Jared growled as he turned around and stormed out, not something he would usually do. His emotions are all over the place so he wasn't acting like he usually did.

I'm coming for you Isabelle, don't you worry. I'm coming. Jared thought as he climbed into bed unaware that that was close to the same thing Isabelle had just thought of herself.

Daniel watched Jared go with a sigh. He knew Jared hasn't been himself ever since Isabelle had been gone. Daniel looked over at his beta and said, "go back to Abby. I'm sure she's worried sick. And I know you want to be with her, so go. I got this taken care of."

"Thanks Daniel," Luke said with a smile before disappearing to go to his mate.

Daniel, Luke, and Jared had all grown up together so they were the best of friends. It was easy to tell between each other how each of them was feeling, which was why Daniel sent Luke away to be with his mate. Daniel quickly packed everything up, rolling up the map and putting it away. He missed his sister, even though she's been gone longer than he's even known about her.

Isabelle being gone was making everyone suffer, just not him, Luke, and Jared, but the entire pack. They could feel the effect of their Luna being gone even if they have never met her. Everyone was worried and Jared had him and Luke training the pack whenever possible. If the pack wasn't training, they were out patrolling or searching.

Daniel sighed as he left the office. He missed his sister just as much as Jared missed her but Jared missed her more, he knew that. It could never compare to what Jared was feeling. They both needed her.

Daniel dashed these thoughts away as he traveled back to his home that wasn't to far away and to his mate Amanda. He didn't want to think about this anymore, it was just to depressing. He would rather come back to all of these thoughts tomorrow when they went to search that place that was on the map tomorrow.

He opened the door to his home and smiled as he saw his mate sitting on the couch waiting for him with their three month old son in her arms. Amanda looked up upon seeing him and smiled, "hey honey. How'd it go today?"

Daniel walked over to her and wrapped an arm around her shoulders as he sat down beside her. "Could've been better. But how's Jacob doing today?" he asked referring to his little boy in her arms.

"Just great," Amanda answered. Daniel smiled and kissed her softly, "that's great. Now let me see my little guy."

Amanda laughed a bit before handing him over to Daniel. Daniel took his son with a smile as he held him close in his arms. He stared down at his son adoringly before saying to Amanda, "I love you."

"I love you too."
