the summer we fell || jeremiah fisher

P A R T 6

As the night starts to wind down, I realize that I'm really feeling unwell and i'm ready to go home. I turn to Jeremiah and ask if he can give me a ride. He nods saying he'll come back for the boys later, and we start gathering up our things. We say goodbye to steven, con and belly and make our way back to his car. It's a quiet ride home, but it's comfortable. I'm grateful for the silence, and I'm grateful for Jeremiah's company.

We've been friends for so long that we don't need to fill every moment with conversation. We're content to just be together, sharing the quiet moments as well as the loud ones. When we get back to the house, I thank him.

We walk into the house and our moms were led on the couch laughing watching a movie, sharing a bowl of popcorn. Me and jere go over and sit with them for a few minutes, susannah and mom asked how we're home so early as it was only 10. I explain that i didn't feel well and jere took me home and he's going to go back later for the others, we don't mention belly as we know she isn't meant to be there.

Jeremiah says that we should head up stairs and let me get some rest. Our moms awed at us as i was walking up the stairs and jere went to get me some medicine.

At the top of the stairs I hear susannah say to jeremiah "your so good to her"

I stop to listen and hear jeremiah reply "well i'd do anything for her"

After hearing those words i ran up the stairs and flopped onto my bed, i was smiling like an idiot. I think to myself, I wasn't falling for jeremiah was i? there's no way i could be he's my best friend. Those thoughts stop and i remember i need to post on my social media, i decided to post a tiktok that me and jere made at the beach and some photos on instagram.

Shortly after jeremiah knocks on my door walking in with some medicine and a bottle of water. Trying to tease him i repeat his words to susannah and my mom, letting him know i heard what he said "you'd do anything for me wouldn't you" i say this with an innocent smile on my face.

"shut up u heard?!" he says laughing and pushing me

After the laughter stops we just lay there im my bed in silence, staring at each other. As we stare into each other's eyes, I can feel my heart racing. There's something about the way he looks at me that makes me feel like I'm the only person in the world. We're so close that I can feel his breath on my skin, and I can smell the faint scent of his cologne.

I'm lost in the moment, and I don't want it to end. He leans in a little bit closer, until we heard my mom screaming and we both jumped, did we nearly just share a kiss? i thought to myself. whatever it was our moment got interrupted when we heard my mom screaming at steven, conrad and belly. They had got dropped off home by police for underage drinking, and my mom was so mad that belly had snuck out.

We got up and sat in silence listening to what was happening, then it was just silence the screaming and arguing had stopped, my mom had sent conrad, steven, and belly all to bed.

Breaking the silence jeremiah says "hey i should probably head to bed, i have got work tomorrow."

I agree and he leaves my room, I get up and get myself ready for bed, i changed into a loose top and some shorts. I led in bed for hours that night with so many thought building up in my head. Does he like me? Do i like him? Are we more than friends? Was we about to kiss in that moment? I start to get tired so i close my eyes and i eventually fall asleep. Even though we didn't share a kiss, the moment was perfect in its own way.
