P A R T 4

As I unpacked my bags in my room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. My siblings, Belly and Steven, were unpacking their bags in their rooms down the hall, and I could hear them laughing and joking around. It was good to be back at the summer house, surrounded by family and friends. I glanced out the window and saw Jeremiah walking up the path towards the house. I couldn't wait to spend the summer with the fishers. As I was unpacking he walked into my room, a grin spread across his face.

"Hey, stranger," he says, his eyes sparkling. "How's it going?"

I smile back at him, feeling a sense of warmth spread through my chest. "It's going great," I say. "I'm so excited to be back."

Jeremiah nods, looking around the room. "Yeah, me too," he says. "It's good to be home." He pauses for a moment, then turns back to me. "So, what's on the agenda for today?"

I shrug. "I don't know," I say. "My mom actually asked me and belly to go to whale of the tale with her"

Jeremiah looks at me disappointed. "man i really wanted to spend some time with you."

"well i don't have to go i can ask her to skip and maybe we could go down to the beach" I say smiling at him

Jeremiah's eyes light up at the suggestion. "That sounds like a good idea" he says.

I run down the stairs, my heart racing with excitement. I burst into the living room, where my mom and susannah, are sitting on the couch, talking.

"Mom!" I say, breathless.
"I was thinking, instead of going to Whale of the Tale today, do you think I could go to the beach with Jeremiah instead?"

Mom looks at me, a smile spreading across her face. "Of course, sweetie, i've dragged you with me to do this enough" she says.

Susannah looks at me smiling "don't worry lexi i'll go with your mom, you have fun with jere"

I can hardly contain my excitement as i rush back upstairs to change into my bikini. This was going to be so fun. I couldn't wait to spend it with Jeremiah, at the beach and chasing the waves. As i put on my bikini, i feel a sense of happiness and contentment.

I slip on some loose shorts over my bikini bottoms and get a towel. I run to Jeremiah's room banging on his door, calling out his name. "Jeremiah!" I say, my voice breathless. "Are you ready to go to the beach?"

There's a moment of silence, and then I hear a muffled voice from inside the room. "Yeah, just give me a minute," Jeremiah says.

I bounce on my toes, feeling a sense of anticipation and excitement. As I wait for Jeremiah to get ready. Finally, the door opens, and Jeremiah emerges, grinning at me.

"we'll don't u look hot" he says, looking me up and down.

"um excuse you" i said trying not to laugh

"what since when did u get boobs" he says grinning.

"why u looking u perv" i say laughing while i smacked his arm

me and jere finally step outside, the bright sun beating down on our faces. We both squint against the light, taking a moment to adjust to the brightness. Then, with a shared grin, we head down to the beach. The sand is warm beneath our feet.

we can see the waves crashing against the shore, and i know that the water will be cool and refreshing. As we walk, me and Jeremiah chat and laugh, exchanging stories and jokes. The world seems to fall away, and i feel like it's just the two of us, walking along the beach on a perfect summer day.

"wanna race to the water" jere says excitedly

"i can't ur legs are too long now" i say before i throw my towel and run to the water giving myself a head start

i hear jeremiah from behind screaming "hey u cheater!!"

He finally catches up to me and holds me by the waist throwing me into the water. I grab his arm and pull him down with me laughing. I can feel the cool waves lap against my skin. Jeremiah is right beside me, and we both laugh as a wave crashes over our heads. We dive under the water, feeling the coolness envelop us.

When we come up for air, we're both grinning from ear to ear. The water is perfect not too cold, not too warm. We splash each other, and I feel a sense of freedom and joy that I haven't felt in a long time.
