It was later on in the night, mom and susannah had gotten into an argument which made mom leave the house, susannah had gone to bed, and basically the fourth was over.
I was led in bed scrolling through tiktok when jere came walking in without knocking as if it was his room "god jere i could've been naked" i laugh, getting up from my bed.
"i mean i wouldn't complain" he shrugged, smirking at me.
I laughed, "gross jere"
All of a sudden the laughter stopped, his eyes turned sad and I could tell something was troubling him.
"what's wrong jere?" i ask softly
He sat down on the edge of my bed and said, "Did you know my dad left?"
I was taken aback at first and didn't know what to say. I hadn't known that Adam had left.
"i'm sorry, i'm sure he had a good reason" i comfort him, pulling him into a hug.
We sat in silence for a few moments, until he started to tell me the story. He had never been able to connect with his dad the way conrad did. He felt like he was all alone, with no one to turn to in his time of need.
After he finished telling me why adam had left, I could see that he was still feeling down. I thought it might be a good idea to distract him and lighten the mood.
"hey wanna go for a night swim on the beach, and light the rest of the fireworks?" i ask trying to cheer him up
He nodded in agreement, "ye, that would be nice"
He went to back to his room so we could both change into a swimsuit and grab a towel.

We were walking towards the beach, looking up at the stars and enjoying the cool evening breeze, when we heard the sound of laughter coming from the deck of the beach house. We looked over and we saw Belly and Conrad together. They were talking until they wasn't and before i could even blink they were both leaning in, about to kiss.
Suddenly, Jeremiah fired a firework into the air, and we could hear Belly and Conrad jump in surprise.
"what did u do that for" i ask him
he shrugs.
"do u like belly?" i blurt out
"no.. why?" he spoke as he stopped walking and grabbed my hand.
"then why would you set off that firework, to stop them from kissing?" i ask him getting a little irritated
"she shouldn't cheat on cam, he's a good guy" he says softly
"i know he is and i know cheating isn't right but, everyone knows belly has been crazy about connie since she was like 10" I said to Jeremiah.
He nodded and let out a small smile "yeah, yeah and connie's been crazy about her too, he just has a lot going on i guess."
Suddenly my phone pings and i look to see it's a text from belly.

I show jeremiah the texts wondering what i should reply with "just ignore it, talk to her tomorrow, now come on cheer up we still have fireworks to set off" he smiles at me in hope i'll do what he says.
I nodded "fine..."
"but what if she's like really mad though" i blurt out worried
"lex" jere says giving me a look that says 'stop putting thoughts in your head'
"okay, okay, okay" i repeat
"you wanna race?" jere asked me changing the subject
"no way! it's too dark" i laugh
"awe is lexi scared" jere joked
"shut up, you know i don't like the beach when it's dark" i say
My head goes down and my voice goes quieter "especially after blake..."
Jere pulls me into a hug as he sets the rest of the fireworks onto the ground "lex i'm right here, you don't need to be scared, i got you" he reassured me in the soft voice, that always made me feel safe.
He kisses my forehead and holds onto my hand "come on let's go set off some fireworks" he smiled at me reassuringly
We carried on walking hand in hand until we we were near the sea. The night swim and fireworks was exactly what we needed to forget our worries and relax in the moment.
Steven did join us for the fireworks but he was moody the whole time as shayla and him got into an argument about the whole taylor thing, me and jere advised him to stop mopping around and that he should go talk to her, so he left without even questioning our advice leaving me and jere alone.
