I awake to the sound of Taylor's car pulling up into the driveway. I jump out of bed and go to the window, my heart pounding in anticipation. All of my preparations had been for this very day: the volleyball tournament, hosted by Susannah. It was a big event, and I had been doing my best to make sure it would go off without a hitch.
Taylor steps out of the car, looking around at the beach house with wide eyes. I run down the stairs to greet her.
"Hey, I'm so glad that you made it" I exclaimed as I hug her.
"Me too! I wouldn't miss it for the world!"
"ye belly really needs you right now.." i say
We walk into the house and are immediately surrounded by everyone. There's Belly who was eating a bowl of cereal, steven was bugging jere, and Susannah and my mom were sat at the counter. Susannah looks beautiful in her summer dress, and I can tell she's excited and ready for the tournament.
Jeremiah, was cooking up some eggs while steven was next to him watching.
"Hey," Jeremiah says, casually.
"Hey," I say back, trying to sound nonchalant. I can't help but smile a little, though.
"So, are you ready?" Conrad asks, giving me a knowing look as he walks into the kitchen.
"Yeah, I think so," I reply.
Belly and taylor were playing together and none of the boys would play with me so Nicole offered to be my partner. I was kind of bummed jere didn't offer as lately he's started playing volleyball with some boys down at the beach.
"want some eggs" jere asked me
"uh no i'm good i'll take a muffin though" i say eyeing the box of muffins that were still full.
Jere hands me a muffin and whispers into my ear "connie got them for belly, but she didn't want them, they're acting weird"
"that's strange, i'll talk to her later" i whisper back
"gosh we know you two are together there's no need to hide it" susannah blurts laughing hysterically
jeremiah gives me a look "we're actually not.." i say while getting up from the counter.
"uh anyway we should go get ready" taylor blurts grabbing mine and belly's arm and dragging us both out the kitchen.
I don't say anything and just follow.
I go to my room while belly follows taylor's to hers. Belly hasn't talked to me since last night, i get she's mad we ruined her moment with connie but, she shouldn't have done that to cam he's a nice guy.
I go to my dresser where i had placed my volley ball outfit ready, i put on my team shirt that was white with pink sleeves that had "team lex' written on the back. I paired the shirt with same black nike pros and my nike 270s.

I head to belly's room and knock on the door, "come in" belly yells.
As i walk in i notice belly gives me a look "bells you can't be mad forever" i sigh
she ignores me, "bells just talk to her" taylor explains
"what lex." belly sulks
"look i'm sorry" i sigh again
"you should be, i mean you know i've liked conrad forever and you and jere ruined it." she said annoyed
"bells i know plus it's not my fault, u can't cheat on cam he's a nice guy it wouldn't be right atleast end things with him first before you go fucking make out with con" i blurt getting angry
"we'll there's no point now.." belly says quietly as she sat on her bed.
why wasn't she angry with what i just said she looked more upset i thought to myself
"bells what's wrong?" i ask sitting next to her
"nothing" she replies looking down at the floor
I know she's lying "tell me"
"well this morning i went to help connie outside clean up some stuff that was left from the fourth and i told him we should talk about it and he just acted as if it never happened he even said he doesn't remember it happening" she said as tears filled her eyes
"bells.. i'm sorry.. i know you like connie but he's not good for u, hes clearly going through something and his heads not in the right mindset to be in a relationship" i explain
"and that why cams wayyy better" taylor laughs
"she's right, i know you want conrad but cams better for you right now, he's a good guy" i agree with taylor
"i know but.. i just don't feel sparks with cam and did you know connie asked to take me to the deb ball this morning" belly sighs
"HE WHAT" i blurt
"yeah he even bought muffins for me" she told me
"oh yeah, i ate one this morning" i laugh
"what did you say?" me and taylor ask in unison
"i told him i'd think about it" belly shrugs
We continue talking about the belly situation until mom walks in "you girls ready to go" she asks
"yes" we all say
"omg can i drive" belly asks eyeing the car keys in moms hand
"uhhh.. no." mom laughs
"awe" belly says disappointed
"actually i'm going down with jere sorry guys" i say
"what even is going on with you two" taylor and belly ask intrigued
"i'll tell you later" i laugh running out of belly's room
I gather my stuff from my room and head downstairs to meet jeremiah.
"you ready?" jere asks getting up from the couch
"yep"
"okay let's go" he smiles at me
As i was about to open the door, but jere moved my hand and opens it for me "jere being a gentlemen?" i joke laughing at his gesture
"i'm always a gentlemen" he says in defence
"okay jere bear" i laugh
We get in the car and jere let's me connect to the aux, as we were heading there i start getting nervous, i hated people watching me do stuff especially sports, i think jere could tell i was nervous as i felt him place a hand on my thigh, i couldn't help but let out a big smile.
He looks over at me and smiles, "hey don't be nervous you will be great"
"thanks jere" i say
"hey, how about we go to that dessert place after, my treat" he says
"omg the new one? " i blurt excitedly
"yep" he replies
"i could never turn that down"
"okay it's a date then" he smiles at me giving me a wink
