Song for the chapter: Utopia by Ateez
Audrey's POV:
Rude! "I get that you're upset—"
"Why do you care if I am upset or dying? It doesn't concern you! Don't you get that? I mean, you don't even know me; we haven't talked even once, so why do you care? Just mind your own fucking business and let me mind mine, okay!" he said, blasting on me.
I fought the feeling of getting angry at him. He is already in pain, and I don't want to add more.
"Okay, I get it, you are not upset," I felt him get normal, "you are in deep agony," I said, taking a long pause.
He sighed.
"I won't take more of your time. Just text me when you feel—don't hesitate. We are always here," I said and left.
Andres' POV:
Audrey's words were kinda comforting, but it felt weird because I didn't expect that at all. I don't wanna feel more pathetic than I already am. Nonetheless, I nodded and left. I rode my bicycle to the hill behind my school. I felt the cool, crisp air hit me when I reached the top. I lay on the fresh green grass, my mind wandering somewhere else. I need a break; I'm so tired of this fucking coaching. I thought of a plan. I made a mental list of my options:
1. Saying I don't wanna go because kids bully me. X
2. Faking an illness like a fever with onions (I googled it). X, my mum's too smart for that.
3. Doing drugs and getting tattooed so that I can be grounded. X, because even if I get grounded, I have to go to school, and they'll even drop and pick me up. That's suffocating.
All excuses seemed unfeasible for me. An evil plan crossed my mind, and I smirked to myself. I quickly made my way to the zebra crossing at the main road, which is usually crowded. I looked here and there for my target, and no one seemed good enough for my plan until I saw a rash driver in his Audi coming from a mile away. I quickly executed my plan by standing with my bike in the middle of the zebra crossing, and I knew my plan was successful when I felt the Audi hit me. My back hit the road, and I smirked devilishly.
I opened my eyes and found myself lying in a luxurious hospital suite in a baby-pink hospital gown. I found two dudes standing in front of me. When they saw me waking up, their eyes sparkled.
I heard them whispering to themselves, "Thank God the kid's alive; I almost saw Charlie inheriting the company in front of my eyes."
I uncomfortably shifted in my bed and asked, "Where am I?"
One of them replied, "Are you okay? Do you know what's your name? Where do you live?"
I answered, "Yes, I'm fine, but what am I doing here?" I acted too innocent for my own good.
"You met with an accident on the road, and we saved you and brought you here," one of them told me. I straightened my posture, "Dude! Don't fuck with me." The guy was visibly taken aback. I continued, "I know you hit me with your Audi. I wasn't dead. Wait and watch. I'm gonna call my parents and report you."
"What? What are you saying?" one of them replied nervously.
"Dude, I said I know you almost ran your car over me," I said in an instant. Their faces turned pale.
"I am sorry, so sorry. Just don't tell your parents, okay kid? Tell me what you want: money, PS5, car, anything you want, you get. Just don't tell them, please," the guy begged.
"Dude, I don't want your money. I am fully loaded, but," I paused, "we can make a deal. You tell the doctor to tell my parents that I met a big accident and I need rest for at least a week. If you do that, then I'll tell my parents not to report you, so, whatcha say?"
The guy looked at me like I saved his life, "Oh, the doc will fabricate the truth about your illness in a snap of a finger. Done. You want anything else?" the other guy said confidently.
"Hmm...," I thought for a second and said, "Nothing much, just some snacks, I guess."
Soon my parents came rushing and asked me if I was fine or if I was hurt anywhere and how this happened. What could I say?
"Mom, I am completely fine, just injured my ankle a little bit." I tried to sound convincing. I struggled to stand up and fake hissed in pain.
My parents asked the doctor about me, and like the deal, he said that I had some internal injuries due to the car hitting me. He continued to explain to my folks how I need at least a week of rest, and I internally smirked. Finally, my plan worked, and I could rest without thinking about the douches in my class.
I lied about riding carelessly and that I was at fault too, and my parents scolded me a little, but that's okay. I was getting ready to be discharged. The guys who almost ran their car over me came to bid goodbye to me along with my bag of snacks and said, "I have met a lot of kids, but you are one of the smartest ones, you know?"
"I get that a lot, but thank you," I replied.
"Anyway, nice meeting you. Let's meet again someday, but not like this." He pointed towards my ankle, and I half-laughed and replied in affirmation.
"Of course, dude!" We fist-bumped each other, and they left.
Tomorrow is going to be fun.
