Song for the chapter: I'm a freak by Lily Rose Depp

Maddy's POV:

As Jeremiah led me to a quieter corner of the party, my heart was fluttering. The whole night had been so exciting, and now, here we were, away from the noise and chaos. I smiled and blushed, leaning in to kiss Jeremiah on the cheek.

"Congratulations, babe," I said, my voice full of excitement. "You won the game, and this party is so lit. I've been waiting for this moment all day."

Jeremiah smiled, but there was something in his eyes, a seriousness that made me pause.

"Yeah, Maddy, I've also been waiting for this moment all day," he said. "But I wanted to talk to you."

I felt a pang of worry. "Today isn't about talking, it's about doing," I said, leaning in to kiss him again.

But he put a hand up, stopping me. "Maddy, I want to talk first."

"Yeah? What is it?" I asked, my heart beginning to race with unease.

"I think we should break up, Maddy."

"What?" I stared at him, not quite believing what I was hearing. "What did you just say?"

"I think we should break up.There's no point in dragging this out."he repeated, his voice firmer this time.

"Are you serious, Jeremiah? Why would you want to break up with me?"

"There are plenty of reasons, Maddy, and I don't want to state them all and humiliate both of us. Let's just break up. It's over Maddy."

As he started to walk away, I grabbed his arm. "What are you even saying, Jeremiah? Do you hear yourself? Are you in your sane mind? You can't just say this and leave without giving me an explanation. I get it that we were friends with benefits, but you have to tell me why you want to call it all off so suddenly."

"Because, Maddy, I don't want to do this anymore."

"Why? Have you found someone else?"

"No, but I soon will. Someone who's better than you."

His words cut deep. "What's wrong with me? Why do you want to call it off?"

"Because you won't stop hoeing around despite our relationship. Yesterday, before my game, you were making out with some random player from the opposite team. I saw it with my own eyes. You can't deny it."

"But Jeremiah, you do that too! It's not like I'm the only one. You always hook up with random girls at your family's parties. Can I not kiss someone else?"

"Go ahead, I'm not stopping you. But I don't want to be with you anymore."

Rage boiled inside me. I grabbed a vase from a nearby table and hurled it to the ground, shattering it into pieces.

"What are you doing, Maddy?" Jermaya shouted.

"What do you expect me to do?" I yelled back, my voice trembling with anger and hurt.

"Maddy, this isn't the only reason I'm breaking up with you. You're not the girl I'm looking for anymore. You were fun to hang out and hook up with, but now I don't want to continue it. Can you not understand?"

"Fuck you, Jeremiah Cooper!" I screamed, showing him both my middle fingers. "You're a fuck boy and you can never change."

I raised my hand to slap him, but he caught my wrist before I could make contact. We stood there, locked in a tense stare-down, my heart pounding in my chest.

"Let go of me," I spat, pulling my arm free. "I hate you."

Without another word, I stormed out of the room, my vision blurred with tears. How could he do this to me? How could he just end things without a second thought? The party, the night, everything was ruined. As I walked away, my heart shattered into pieces, just like the vase I had thrown.
