Song for the chapter: Blood // water by Grandson

Nicoli's POV:

As I drove back to my house in my sleek, black Ferrari, the powerful engine's roar did little to drown out the tumultuous thoughts racing through my mind. The car glided effortlessly through the city streets, but inside, I was anything but calm. My grip on the steering wheel was tight, my knuckles white with suppressed emotion.

Arriving at my sprawling estate, I barely acknowledged the neatly manicured lawns and grandiose facade of my home. The mansion, with its opulent decor and state-of-the-art amenities, felt more like a gilded cage than a sanctuary. I stepped out of the car, handing the keys to the waiting valet, and made my way inside, the heavy front doors closing behind me with a dull thud that echoed through the cavernous entryway.

My house staff, trained to perfection, greeted me with polite bows and murmurs of welcome, but I barely noticed. I ascended the grand staircase, my footsteps muffled by the thick, luxurious carpet, and headed straight for my bedroom. The room was enormous, filled with expensive furniture and adorned with tasteful artwork, yet it felt stiflingly empty.

I shut the door behind me, pulling the heavy blinds closed to block out the late afternoon sun. The room plunged into darkness, save for the faint, bluish glow of the air conditioner's display. I switched it on, letting the cool air wash over me as I lay down on my king-sized bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.

The silence was deafening. The luxury that surrounded me, usually a source of comfort and pride, now felt hollow and meaningless. I replayed the breakup in my mind, Issa's tearful words echoing painfully in the silence. I couldn't shake the feeling of loss, a void that all my wealth and success could not fill.

My thoughts were shattered by a sharp knock on the door. Before I could answer, the door flung open, and there stood Andres.

Even without seeing his face, I could feel the fury emanating from him like a searing heat. He stood rigid, eyes ablaze with unspoken anger, his hands clenched into fists at his sides.

The air between us crackled with tension, an impending storm waiting to break.

"Andres, what are you doing here?" I managed, rising from my bed.

Before I could react, Andres lunged at me, his first blow striking my jaw with startling force. The pain exploded through me, momentarily blinding me. I staggered, trying to regain my balance as he came at me again, relentless in his assault. I raised my arms in defense, but his rage seemed to give him an unholy strength.

"How could you, Nicoli?" Andres' voice cracked with emotion. "You've ruined everything!"

I pushed him away, my own anger rising. "What are you talking about?" I yelled back, tasting blood in my mouth.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about!" Andres spat, eyes wild. "Your manipulative games have destroyed everything between Audrey and me!"

He attacked me again, and this time I fought back, grappling with him amid the chaos of my room. We crashed into furniture, sending books and frames crashing to the floor. The room became a battleground of fists and fury, each blow fueled by our inner turmoil.

"You're blaming me for this mess?" I roared, grappling with him. "You're the one who kissed me, Andres!"

His fist connected with my gut, knocking the wind out of me. "Because you manipulated me! You made me feel like I had no choice!"

I seized his collar, pulling him close. "Andres, you're deflecting your mistakes onto me! You were the one who couldn't control yourself!"

He shoved me away, breathing hard, tears mingling with his anger. "You have mommy issues, daddy issues, family issues. My family welcomed you, made you feel at home. I even took you on family vacations to comfort you. I supported you through your darkest times, like when your grandmother passed away. I was always there for you, Nicoli!"
