Jaemin's POV:

As the days dwindled down to the inevitable meeting with Choi Jisoo and her family, the weight of my impending engagement settled heavily upon me. Despite my attempts to reach out to Jisoo beforehand, luck had not been on my side. Our first encounter would be under the watchful eyes of our parents, in the opulent setting of Seoul's finest hotel.

The day of the official meeting arrived with all the pomp and circumstance befitting Seoul's elite. In the luxurious confines of a 7-star hotel, my parents and I awaited the arrival of Choi Jisoo and her family. The atmosphere crackled with anticipation and undercurrents of negotiation.

"Jaemin, my boy," my father's voice boomed, a blend of pride and expectation, "this alliance with the Choi family will propel us into a new era of prosperity."

I nodded, my gaze drifting to the ornate doors that would soon admit our prospective partners. The clinking of crystal glasses and soft murmurs filled the room as the evening unfolded with practiced elegance.

Soon, the Chois entered, led by Jisoo, whose poise belied the whirlwind of emotions within. Her parents, equally composed, greeted us warmly, and the formalities commenced under the watchful eyes of our families.

"Mr. and Mrs. Na," Jisoo's father began, his tone gracious yet assertive, "we are honored to have this opportunity to discuss the future of our families' businesses."

My mother smiled graciously, her demeanor poised and diplomatic. "Likewise, Mr. Choi. The synergy between our enterprises promises unparalleled success."

As the dinner progressed, conversation flowed smoothly, punctuated by moments of laughter and agreement. Jisoo and I exchanged pleasantries, our interactions carefully observed by our parents.

At a strategic lull in the conversation, Jisoo's mother leaned forward, her voice tinged with a hint of invitation. "Perhaps the young ones would like a moment alone to get acquainted," she suggested, her eyes twinkling with a shared understanding.

My mother nodded in agreement, gesturing discreetly towards a secluded alcove. "Jaemin, Jisoo," she said with a gentle smile, "why don't you take a moment to talk in private? Get to know each other better."

Jisoo cast me a sidelong glance, her lips curling into a playful smile. "Shall we?" she murmured, gesturing towards the secluded corner.

Alone amidst the opulent surroundings, the weight of expectation hung heavy in the air. I took a deep breath, gathering my thoughts before speaking. "Jisoo," I began tentatively, "I must admit, I was surprised to hear about... your boyfriend."

Jisoo's expression softened, her eyes meeting mine with a mixture of candor and mischief. "Jaemin, I won't lie to you," she replied earnestly, her voice tinged with honesty. "Yes, I have a boyfriend. But that doesn't mean I can't see the potential in a marriage with you."

Her words caught me off guard, a whirlwind of confusion and intrigue swirling within me. "But... how can you say that?" I asked, struggling to comprehend her seemingly casual approach to such a life-altering decision.

Jisoo shrugged lightly, her demeanor unapologetic yet empathetic. "Marriage isn't just about love," she explained, her tone gentle but firm. "It's about compatibility, mutual benefit. And between us, Jaemin, I believe there's potential for both."

Her honesty both reassured and unsettled me, forcing me to confront the realities of our situation. Could I truly enter into a marriage that lacked the foundation of love and commitment I had always envisioned?
