Song for the chapter: After like by IVE

Audrey's POV:

After hanging up with Andres, I felt a rush of excitement and a little bit of nervousness.

"Okay, Audrey, deep breaths," I muttered to myself.

"You’ve got this." I had been thinking about baking for a while now, especially during those long study breaks where I’d scroll through countless YouTube shorts and Instagram reels on baking. Chocolate chip cupcakes. Perfect.

"But first," I said, looking at my reflection in the mirror, "I need to stop looking like a sleep-deprived raccoon." I sighed at my messy hair and pajamas.

"What should I wear?" I pondered aloud, heading to my closet. I flicked through my clothes, looking for something cute but comfortable. "Maybe the baby blue outfit?" I pulled it out and held it up. "Yes, definitely this one. And the bunny slippers. Andres always says they’re adorable."

I quickly hopped into the shower, the warm water was soothing, washing away the stress and grime of the past few weeks. I lathered up my favorite floral-scented body wash, imagining how nice it would be to smell fresh and inviting when Andres arrived, "Finally some peace," I whispered, closing my eyes for a moment. After drying off, I wrapped myself in a fluffy towel and headed to my vanity. "Alright, time to look cute."

I straightened my hair a bit, getting rid of any remaining frizz. "Why do I feel so nervous?" I wondered, biting my lip. "It’s just Andres. But..." I applied a bit of light makeup – some blush, lip balm, and a spritz of my favorite body mist. "Maybe it’s not just Andres anymore," I admitted to my reflection. "I mean, it’s supposed to be fake, but it doesn’t feel fake." "Why am I doing all this?" I wondered aloud. " I don’t know why I feel the need to look good for him. It’s like he’s becoming more than just a fake boyfriend to me."

I sighed, shaking my head to clear those thoughts. "Get it together, Audrey."

I slipped into the baby blue outfit and put on my bunny slippers. "Perfect," I said, twirling a bit in front of the mirror. "He’s going to love this."

I headed to the kitchen to prepare for our baking session. I grabbed two aprons, with cupcake print.

"He’s going to look so adorable in this," I giggled.

"He’ll probably tease me about it, but he’ll wear it anyway."

As I gathered the ingredients, I realized I was missing some key items. "Of course," I groaned. "Just my luck."

The doorbell rang, and my heart skipped a beat. "He’s here!" I rushed to the door, pausing for a second to smooth my hair and check my reflection one last time.

"Okay, you’ve got this," I whispered to myself before opening the door.

And there he was, standing with that bunny smile that always made my heart flutter.

"Hey, you," I greeted him, unable to hide my excitement."Hey cutie" he replied, pulling me into a warm hug. "You look amazing."

"Thanks," I said, feeling a blush creep up my cheeks. "I have a fun plan for us. How do you feel about baking some delicious chocolate chip cupcakes?"

"Baking, huh?" Andres raised an eyebrow, a grin spreading across his face.

"Sounds like fun. What do we need to do?"

"Well," I began, "I realized we’re missing a few ingredients, so I was thinking we could make a quick trip to the convenience store first."

"Alright, let’s go," Andres said, taking my hand. "I’m game for anything as long as I’m with you."
