Chapter 1 Awakening

My eyes shot open on a dingy school bus, hunger plagued me but I dared not give away my intentions. Thankfully humans cannot sense my bloodlust. Gazing out the fingerprinted window I recounted the last time I was home. In a different realm sat the Pire empire ruled for thousands of years third only to the Cardeils, a family going to near the beginning of time.

The Pire kingdom, for the past century and a half had been run by Dremine Pire, a selfish leader who only cared about making the perfect vampire, who could survive all the weaknesses of the devil's children but still remain a pure blooded vampire.

After many failed attempts he finally received his wish, a son and daughter were born. In of itself a cause for celebration for twins had not been born from the Pire family before. Dremine rejoiced for once he gazed into his daughter's eye's knew that she was his wish. "Firanna,you shall do great things my child."

Years passed and I took control of my powers and reveled in the glory of the sun, a great light that only I could see. "You are dismissed princess, if you hurry you should be able to catch Fira before the sun rises." "Thank you Elder." I ran as fast as I could to catch my brother before he retired to bed.

The two were close and always made a point to play with each other a little bit before bed. Firanna loved spending time with Fira, especially when their parents fought. That's when the playdates became more frequent. "Fira, wait up!"

I shouted to my  twin brother who was entering his chambers. "Alright come on before father uses telepathy on you." Telepathy was how members of the royal family communicated but only for serious events due to the pain it would cause the recipient of the message.

Fira loved me which was unusual due to our polar opposite powers. Fira was the word our people used to describe heat and fire he was named as such because he could control that element. 'Firanna' directly translates to 'one who douses flame' . Since birth I could control anything that involved water. If I wished for it to snow I could create a blizzard in mere moments as with oceans, lakes, and rivers.

Water being the most powerful of the elements, I was easily the most powerful vampire alive. And I was being trained to be so. Being the only known heir to the Pire royal family, my training was now on politics, war, internal affairs, business, and any other businesses that the queen would have to take over.
