POV OMINIS GAUNT

It had taken some time to think over Elias Marrows' words. I hadn't been willing to partake in anything on our trip, mainly thinking and letting Sebastian talk my ear off but when I felt her sit beside me with her head on my shoulder; letting me hold her hand. Remembering back to that horrifying experience with Obitus. The sounds of her cheek being cut open, of her trying not to scream for my sake. I knew he was right, I needed to better myself. What had happened with Obitus was unacceptable and it will never happen again.

I stood outside of his door, Sebastian having left as soon as I had arrived. He sounded exhausted, but also sounded happy to see me. Having patted my arm as he left me to rest. I knocked on the door, twice.

"Yes?" The voice called out.

"It's Ominis Gaunt..." I stated, "I'm here to talk about your offer."

"Come in." I opened the door and walked in slowly, closing it behind me.

"Thank you Kreeter, please go..."

"Yes Master Marrow..." The voice was ragged, then a Pop was heard as the House Elf left.

"Sit..." His voice was direct and he wasn't stopping whatever he was doing. His quill is still scratching at paper. I found the chair easily this time, it being in the same spot as the last time I was here. Slipping into it, I crossed my legs and held my knee with my hands. Waiting for him to go ahead to speak.

"Go ahead..."

"I have thought of your offer and I realize you were right. I've been limiting myself, I've been letting my past control me." He was silent, the quill stopped moving.

"Every morning, Sebastian will come for you and bring you to his lessons. Tomorrow we're learning Fiendfyre, you will participate. You will learn and you will better yourself...You can leave now." Elias Marrow for once sounded pleased when talking with me.

Fiendfyre was hard to control, dangerous and he was teaching it to Sebastian and I. I however didn't question the man and raised myself to my feet. Leaving the room quietly.

We had been taken outside by Ada's Father the next morning. He was lecturing us, it felt like I was in school again and I was doing my best to pay attention. He was going on about the creation, uses and dangers of Fiendfyre. Saying that the uneducated made this spell the most dangerous. Not knowing how to control it would kill the caster but he knew how to control it. He knew the incantation to dispel it.

I could hear Elias marrow's shoes as they crunched over the grass, while he paced and I could also hear Ada talking with Poppy and her Mother off to the side.  More likely watching us while her father lectured us, I didn't know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't a lecture. My father never lectured me on curses. Only taught me the incantation and made me use it, there was nothing about the spell backfiring or improper uses of a spell. It felt like I was back at Hogwarts, I was actually being taught about the spells and not being forced to use them on innocent Muggles. This is what it was like being properly taught Dark Magic. Then he stopped talking.

"I realize you haven't had the same talk that Sebastian has had." Elias stated.

"Talk?"

"Yes about the Rules of the House of Marrow."

"Rules about what?"

"Magic, rules about Magic." He started pacing again, "Dark Magic is gray, to allow magic to control you is weakness and finally unforgivables are to only be used to protect those dearest to us." It was a matter of fact, no hesitance. The stark difference between Elias and my father is now clear and I wanted to hurt myself for not seeing it sooner.
