Sam's POV**Seven Years Later**
"Dude, are you even listening?" Dean groaned in annoyance as he waved his hand in front of my face.
"No, because you're speaking nonsense." I huffed, returning my attention to the laptop in front of me.
--------------------------------
It had been seven years since I got back into the life...and little did I realize, coming back would be so much more than I bargained for.
Before I'd left Dean and dad, it was all monsters, all the time. Dad had gotten into the life when a demon killed our mother when I was only six months old...and our main priority was finding and ending the damn thing.
However, along the way...we took care of regular monsters more often than not, just to do our part to help families and victims in need. Note how I say regular monsters...like that's a totally normal fucking thing for someone to say.
But what I mean is...stuff we were used to...stuff that was common. Vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, wendigos, ghosts and vengeful spirits... things that bled, were easy to gank, and easy to track down.
However, over the years since I came back...things grew to cosmic proportions. Like....apocalyptic, end of life as we know it, full on Book of Revelations big.
And somehow...Dean and I always managed to wind up smack dab in the middle of it.
We found the thing that killed our mother...and it inevitably took our father from us as well.
I found out I've got some sort of weird psychic abilities, and I actually had demonic blood pumping through my veins...the blood of the demon that killed my parents.
Dean had actually been to Hell. He'd stupidly made a deal with a crossroads demon in exchange for my life...as if me having to live without him was somehow better than him having to live without me. So he was in Hell. Dead. For four months.
Until....drum roll, please.....a fucking ANGEL "raised him from perdition" and brought Dean back to life...as per "God's plan". Oh, and that angel? His name is Castiel...and he's kind of our best friend.
And now...we were on a mission to stop the breaking of 66 seals....even though we have absolutely no clue what the seals even are...so we can try and stop Lucifer....that's right...SATAN...from springing free from his cage and ushering in the Judeo-Christian apocalypse.
So....in a nutshell...I guess you can say that we've been pretty fucking busy.
Trying to save the world...being traumatized at every turn...seeing death and destruction everywhere we look, and being the only humans on Earth that communicate with angels and demons like it's a regular passtime.
I signed up to kill monsters...not this.
But....nonetheless...if Dean and I didn't at least put up an effort, go down swinging, and attempt to try and do something about it...who the hell would?
So, that was our burden. Our cross to bare, if you will.
To fill in some of the blanks between all aforementioned events...we did still kill some of our usual game from time to time. We'd catch a hunt in whatever town we were in, and do our part to at least get some monsters off the face of the Earth...no matter how insignificant it may seem in the grand scheme of things.
