Her new role as Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors had given Liz a new lease of life. Everything about her was brighter, and everyone around her noticed it. The job itself was a dream and it came with so many new opportunities, like a puppy interview.

Liz was driving home from a day of doing press events for the show when she decided to call Michael. She had her phone connected up to the Bluetooth of her car and just waited for him to answer, which he did after only three rings.

"Hey babe. How was your day?" Michael asked, turning the TV to mute so he could concentrate on their conversation.

"It was good." Liz said briefly, clearly not giving much away.

"Are you okay?" Michael asked with a note of worry in his voice.

"I'm okay. But, umm, listen, I did something a bit impulsive today." Liz bit her lip nervously, glancing to the golden puppy curled up on her jacket in the front passenger seat.

"That could range anywhere between a spray tan and buying a property in London." Michael chuckled.

"Can you get a blanket ready for when I come home? I'm like ten minutes away." She asked.

"Yeah sure. What's it for? ...Liz?" He stood from the couch and headed to the laundry room where he knew the fresh blankets were.

"Uhh, you'll see." Liz said, choosing to wait and surprise him instead of trying to explain on the phone.

"Babe, can I get some more information? Maybe some details or a-" Michael asked but he was cut off.

"Love you, bye!" Liz rushed out in one breath and ended the call before turning to look at the puppy. "He's going to love you. After five or so minutes."

The rest of the drive home Liz had to focus extra hard on the road and not the adorable puppy. However, the closer she got to home, the more she started to overthink her decision. Was it really a bright idea to bring home a puppy without even mentioning it to her husband?

She didn't have much more time to panic over it because she was pulling onto their front drive. Grabbing her handbag over her shoulder, she bundled up the puppy wrapped in her trench coat and cuddled it close as she headed to the front door. She pressed the doorbell with her elbow when she noticed how she had her hands full, and then waited patiently.

"Hey, you're ho- Oh my god."

"Hi." Liz smiled innocently, batting her bold eyelashes at Michael to try and distract him.

"Liz, what the hell?" Michael gasped lowly, taking in the sight.

"Can we come in?" Liz asked sweetly.

"Sure." Michael opened the door wider and stepped aside to allow them in.

He watched in slight confusion as Liz walked through to the living room, sitting on the couch and cuddling the puppy against her chest without saying anything to him. Minutes passed before he realised how distracted she actually was and that she had probably forgotten to start a much needed conversation.

"Liz, honey, don't you think another dog is something we should have talked about first?" Michael asked gently, sitting down on the coffee table in front of her.

"It wasn't my fault." Liz immediately jumped to her list of excuses.

"How can it not be your-"

"You weren't there, Michael! You don't know how cute they looked playing together while we did our interview! And this one really liked me and then I found out all the puppies are up for adoption and after that I couldn't not adopt one when we have such a lovely home. So really, you're lucky I didn't take home two or three puppies." Liz rambled quietly, letting the puppy rest in her neck.
