The Christmas season was Liz's favourite. She loved almost everything about it; the colder weather, the wintery meals, the sparkly decorations. The one thing she hated was the fact that it was the busiest work period.
The drive home that particular Friday seemed endless. With the unbearable traffic and angry drivers, Liz just wanted to get home. She was starting to get hungry, and that was when the turn off for her favourite food pick up place became irresistible.
Once she had secured dinner, the rest of the journey home was relatively painless. Michael called her to let her know that he was a few minutes ahead of her, and she told him she had picked up dinner for them both. She arrived home to find Michael on the couch with the dogs, her favourite blanket laid out in her spot.
"There's my beautiful wife." Michael grinned as Liz walked through the door.
"Hi." She immediately smiled at his words, walking over to him.
"What did you pick up for dinner?" Michael asked, kissing her before she could even get her shoes off.
"Vegan tacos and nachos." Liz handed him the paper bag and disappeared into the open plan kitchen. "You want water?"
"Please." Michael called out, setting the food up on the coffee table.
"I am exhausted. This week has just been..." Liz trailed off, sitting on the couch.
"A lot?" Michael finished her sentence for her.
"Yeah." She sighed, running a hand through her hair before tying it back into a loose ponytail.
"The Christmas rush is always like this. Pretty sure it's the same for most professions. Even Scrooge." Michael chuckled.
"What?" Liz stared at him and laughed lightly.
"Don't worry. Have your nachos." Michael handed her the box and she just laughed at him.
"How was your day?" Liz asked, fussing the dogs gently as she tucked into her food.
"The studio is so busy with artists releasing holiday songs. It's chaos. I can't wait for my Christmas bonus." Michael explained, eating his own dinner she had bought him. "Is it busy on set?"
"Cast and crew are running everywhere the whole day. It's the time pressure, I think." Liz sighed, tucking her feet under herself as she sat more comfortably on the couch.
"Well, we can just forget it all now. At least for the rest of the weekend. Sound good?" Michael asked.
"Sounds good." Liz nodded with a smile.
The couple showered together and stayed under the hot water for almost forty minutes. Liz was first out, and she headed into the closet to start on her skin and hair care routine. Michael walked in just as she was sliding on her blue fluffy pyjama bottoms.
"You're topless." Michael smirked.
"You didn't exactly give me a chance to put on some clothes. And anyway, I want one of your T-shirts." Liz smiled softly.
"I'll trade you." Michael offered, handing her a black Ralph Lauren logo Tee that didn't really fit him anymore.
"You want one of my shirts?" Liz laughed, tugging the T-shirt on over her head.
"No, silly. You can have one of my T-shirts if you'll do my hair. Please." Michael asked shyly.
"Aww, babe! Of course." Liz pulled him in for a kiss.
"You're so pretty." Michael whispered as he kissed her again.
Her curly hair was up in a messy bun with a few loose strands falling around her face, bare of any make up. She had only her false lashes on and a face of expensive skin care products.
