~NOTES~
This is the story of Liz and Michael's relationship (as best we know it) told through the lyrics of Michael's song 'Okay'. Enjoy :)

I like your smile
But even introductions need to last awhile

They'd met before when they had worked together on Victorious. Liz tried her best not to think about him because it was never going to happen between them. Right person, wrong time was what Joan had said when she found Liz crying to Ariana over him.

So she carried on with her life, dating a few different boys here and there between causal hook ups but nothing serious. Liz had almost forgotten about Michael. Almost. That was, until, Ariana threw a huge party at her mansion in L.A and invites had gotten out of hand.

Liz was stood with Ariana, swirling the straw in her drink as she listened to Ariana complaining about how stupid she had been to let all these people into her house.

"You are staying over tonight, right?" Ariana asked suddenly.

"Yeah. Why?" Liz asked, looking around at the large gatherings of guests.

"No reason. You'll be here to help me clean up in the morning, then." Ariana grinned. "You want another drink?"

"Might as well. Get me a-"

"Vodka-Cranberry on the rocks. I know." Ariana smiled and took her glass from her.

"Liz?"

"Sorry, I'm not interested in any guys so just move along to- Michael?!"

Her eyes widened the second she turned around and saw Michael standing behind her.

"Sorry to bother you. I came over to see how you've been." Michael smiled shyly.

"I'm sorry. I've been great. You look great. I mean, how have you been?" She was flustered and blushing and unsteady on her feet and it wasn't from the alcohol.

"I'm good, thanks." Michael chuckled.

"Are you, umm, seeing anyone currently?" Liz asked, internally cringing at her lack of a filter.

"No, I'm not. You?" He asked.

"No, me neither." Liz smiled softly.

"I didn't know if you maybe wanted to get to know each other?" Michael asked, hiding his nerves behind a gentle smile.

"Hi, I'm Liz." She grinned, holding out her hand for him to shake, which he did.

"I know that." Michael laughed.

"We met years ago, Michael! We should start again and take our time." Liz told him, setting her boundaries clearly with a playful tone.

"Alright. It's nice to meet you, Liz. I'm Michael." He played along, understanding exactly what she meant even if she didn't quite say it.

"And what do you do for a living?" Liz asked completely seriously.

"I'm a music producer. And let me guess, you're a wildly talented actress and singer?" Michael winked at her.

"Wow, you're good." Liz rolled her eyes and he laughed.

"Lizzy! I got you a drink and I wanted- oh. It's you." Ariana's smile dropped when she handed Liz her drink and saw Michael.

"Ari, we're just talking." Liz told her.

"Whatever. Don't get hurt again. I know how upset you were all those years ago when you thought nothing could ever happen." Ariana shrugged.

"Is that true?" Michael asked Liz softly.

"It is, yeah. Not that you needed to know that." Liz glared at Ari.
