The deafening sound of a notebook slapping against the desk made the single boy in the room close his eyes and push a finger to his ear. The short-haired girl with elegant wire-frame glasses, who was sitting in one of the two leather armchairs, only sighed and pushed those elegant glasses up her nose.
"Are you sure?" You asked the standing boy, and he nodded, nervously biting his lips. "Fuck!"
Plopping down in the tall leather desk armchair, you closed your eyes to massage your forehead, feeling the migraine approaching.
"This is the second week since they skipped the meeting," the glasses girl in front of you said, scrolling through her tablet computer.
"I know..." you grumbled. "Jihun, please fetch me some water and meds... my head is starting to hurt..."
The slim boy nodded and immediately went to find the painkillers in the first-aid cabinet and pour the glass of water from the machine in the corner. He lay the items on your desk and you thanked him, shoving the medication into your mouth and washing it down your throat with a lot of water.
"So... what now, Prez?" Jihun, standing close to your mahogany desk, asked, fiddling his fingers.
You opened your eyes and met the expecting gaze of young Yoonji, her cat-like eyes piercing into yours behind those glasses.
"I say we kick them out of the council," Yoonji shrugged. "They're skipping classes, not attending our meetings, and are loud."
"But they still have good grades," Jihun added, getting a sharp glare from Yoonji in return. "A-and Bang Chan is at the top of his class..." he spoke timidly and you grunted again.
Bang Chan... the sound of his name still sent tingles through your body... even though it's been a year since the two of you broke up.
You were both seniors, and finishing high school was within arm's reach, yet he was all laid back while you worked on establishing good grades and status that would get you into an excellent college. And Chan - when he needed to focus and calm down the most, which was his senior year, he acted like a child - he was rebellious and wild, hanging out with his younger friends, yet somehow managed to stay at the top of his class, having excellent grades.
Chan and you were the only two candidates for the student council president position last year. Chan didn't want that responsibility so he "gentlemanly" backed away, letting you take on the role. The two of you, both no.1 in your representative classes, were selected to join the student council and have been members ever since your first year in high school. Chan was very serious about his position in the council so when he forfeited the president position, it all started becoming odd and suspicious to you.
The two of you dated in your second year of high school but when he started going astray, skipping classes to hang out with his friends and only coming to the council meetings when some of his friends weren't at school, it all crumbled - you parted ways, deciding to be not friends but... acquaintances. You wanted to save your reputation and grades and build up a solid path to your future while all he wanted was to play around.
After your break-up... it was all as if you two never met - cold, distant, and silent. But it was like that because Chan respected your decision and did not tarnish your reputation - a student council president shouldn't be dating a rebel.
Reminiscing the past made it easier for you to block out the arguing between a council's secretary and a treasurer but, remembering that the other members were somewhere out there having fun instead of being in the office made you slam your fist against the table, stopping the chatter between two people.
You stood up and the two followed you with their eyes, confused at your sudden actions.
"I'm going to go and find them," you looked between Jihun and Yoonji.
