It has been exactly two weeks, six days, five hours, and two minutes since they have last seen each other, since the two parted ways with tears staining their faces, their hearts shattering, and feelings lingering and mixing together. They both cared for each other, but that love mixed with sadness and certain feelings of distance and difference they both felt for each other.
He wanted those emotions to slowly fade away with time - sadness before the pain... the affection before that. But what he really felt was that he didn't know how he could go on without her...
He tried to let the time heal him yet he agreed to meet with her once again after all this time and the meeting place was in the park, the place they used to go often as they both enjoyed long night walks, the nature of the park relaxing them every time, the privacy of the park giving them chances to laugh, hug, and kiss... sitting on their favorite bench.
But they didn't agree to meet at that bench - it would be devastating to both of them for all those happy memories to come flooding in while they tried to get rid of them... at least he wanted that.
Bang Chan stood under the lamppost, hands buried deep into the pockets of his thick black leather jacket. He hid a half of his face into the head opening of the gray hoodie sweater he wore underneath to get a bit of warmth on this cold November night.
"Chan..."
He heard her voice and raised his head, leaning away from the cold metal pole. His heart squeezed in pain upon seeing her - she was beautiful as ever, her hair let loose and eyes sparking in the light of the lampposts around them. She wore a thick wool coat, hiding her face under the facemask and the big wool scarf around her neck. Looking down, he noticed that her legs were exposed as she wore a skirt and he so much wanted to grab her hand, run to his car, and drive her to his home to warm her up.
He heard her chuckle and looked up at her face, "Don't worry, I'm not cold - I'm wearing thick tights. The color is just neutral, so it looks like as if I'm not wearing anything," she said and giggled again, that small cute laugh shattering his heart more than her appearance.
He once loved that laugh, he still does, but he promised himself not to go back to old memories...
"So... what did you want to tell me?" Chan huffed, that breath trying to reassure his broken heart, trying to lift him up... but it didn't work, not after seeing her smile fade away and being replaced by a sad pout.
The girl started talking and Chan listened patiently. She began crying, listing all the reasons they should go back together. And Chan agreed to most of them but...
He sighed and shook his head, trying his hardest not to cry and not to call her any nicknames, "Please stop for me... Don't cry anymore..." he raised his head and met her teary eyes and tear-covered face. The cold wind blew and Chan very much wanted to run to her, wipe away those tears and cup her face in his hands to warm it up... but he couldn't do that. "This is the end for you and me... yeah... we're done..."
Her eyes grew wide and a lump formed in Chan's throat.
He didn't want her to hurt him, he didn't want to cry... though he still got love for her and haven't got over her yet... Yet he couldn't open up and the words came out cold.
He sighed again, sniffled, and kicked the fallen leaves on the grass he stood on. He looked up at the girl still staring at him shocked.
"I tried to piece the puzzle together based on mutual understanding. But love is not enough to overcome our differences," tears started building up in his eyes but he sniffled again to push them down, "We realize only after getting cut by the sharp edge that we weren't meant to be - I am me and you are you," Chan talked and saw that new tears slid down her pale face, those tiny drops like diamonds sparkling in the weak light of the lamppost. Chan pushed a smile, a small smile that he tried to ease his words with, "You have not yet really bloomed," he told her and her face scrunched in sadness, "When the new season comes, I hope the warmth will make you bloom into a flower that never dies."
