They arrived at Atlas and proceeded to enter the academy, making their way towards Ironwood's office. However, as they approached the room, a sense of unease washed over them, causing them to hesitate. With a surge of determination, they pushed open the door and were met with a scene that surprised them.

Inside the room, a group of astonished huntsmen and huntresses stood alongside Ironwood, their eyes fixed on a foreboding figure shrouded in a dense cloud of dark smoke. The smoky veil twisted and swirled, creating an eerie atmosphere. Within the haze, the figure's silhouette emerged, their eyes piercing with an unsettling crimson glow. The swirling smoke seemed to dance around them as they locked eyes with the newcomers, a silent intensity hanging in the air.

Jaune stood tall, his expression unwavering, as Salem approached him and Mordred with a wicked smile on her face.

Salem: Ah, the knight and his child finally make their grand entrance. You're just as I expected, Jaune.

Mordred's grip tightened on her weapon, but Jaune gently placed a hand in front of her, silently urging her to hold back.

Salem: Wise move, Jaune.

Her attention then shifted to Mordred, her voice dripping with mockery.

Salem: Little girl, you should heed the words of your parents. They're trying to protect you from an unstoppable storm.

Mordred glared at Salem, her determination burning in her eyes.

Jaune: It's no use, Mordred.

Turning his gaze to Salem, Jaune spoke with a mixture of curiosity and suspicion.

Jaune: I sense the presence of other Grimm around you. Is this some form of communication?

Salem's raised eyebrow betrayed her surprise before her smile returned.

Salem: Why not join me, Jaune Arc?

The sudden offer surprised everyone in the room, but they trusted Jaune's unwavering resolve.

Jaune: I apologize, Salem, but I must decline. I have no interest in embracing the darkness.

Salem frowned and leaned closer to Jaune, attempting to touch his cheek.

Salem: Together, we could become the rulers of this world~

Jaune stepped back, refusing her once again, knowing that physical contact would be futile in her current state of communication through the Grimm.

Jaune: I refuse.

Summoning his mist blade, Jaune brought it down in a swift motion, slicing through both Salem's smoke and the Grimm that served as the source of their communication. The smoky apparition dissipated into nothingness.

The Ace-Ops watched with a mix of astonishment and concern, having witnessed the encounter with Salem. Meanwhile, Jaune noticed Ruby leaning against Yang's lap, tears streaming down her face. Yang's hands rested on Ruby, her own expression filled with distress. Blake knelt beside them, her cat ears folded in sympathy, while Weiss observed the scene with wide eyes. Jaune approached Ruby, gently rubbing her head, and looked to Yang for an explanation.
