The King Of Knights (RWBY X Jaune Arc)

RWBY X JL P2 IF: Chapter 5

"Yo" Jaune casually strolled into the Justice League training room, greeted by a setup of boxes, holograms depicting civilians and thugs, and a mix of advanced technology unfamiliar to his Remnant world. The surroundings surpassed and yet were of a different class than the technology he knew.

Ruby, however, stood on the sidelines, visibly frustrated. Unlike their previous encounter in the digital world, she now seemed more sensitive with her emotional state. Jaune observed quietly as she struggled with something.

"Why can't I control it properly...?" Ruby's voice expressed a sense of frustration and confusion as she attempted to activate her power, but the results were far from satisfying. Jaune remained silent, allowing her to vent her frustration.

"The others can use their powers properly, but I can't control mine but I could before with that Grimm!" Ruby's frustration peaked, and she tried once more, only to face the same disappointment. She clenched her fist and slammed it against the wall. A moment of silence followed before she sighed, relieved to find the wall undamaged.

"What am I doing wrong...?" Ruby pondered, her thoughts lingering in the air. Unbeknownst to her, Jaune had entered the room unnoticed and, with a cough, drew her attention. Ruby turned, blinking in confusion, before tilting her head at Jaune.

"Jaune...? What are you doing here?" She asked before walking over to Jaune. "Just here to see if you're okay. You and the others got banged up pretty badly during the last fight." He observed everything about Ruby such as her emotional state which seemed to be heading for a plummet as well. "You're overworking yourself" he explained, noticing an open wound as a drop of blood slid down the side of her face.

Ruby took notice of the wound and wiped the blood off. "I'm fine. It's just that I don't have my aura to heal me" she ignored him telling her that she is overworked as she turned around and started to walk back to the center of the room. "There's something wrong with her, but asking her wouldn't do anything besides annoy her or trigger some emotional stuff" Jaune still admittedly wasn't good at handling emotions for other people.

"Jaune..." She called out to him with her back turned. Her voice sounded sadder. "You have Salem in your... Remnant, right?" She questioned as he walked over to her and stood by her side but did not look at her. "Salem, huh...? Heh... Long time since I heard that name, but yes, to answer your question" Jaune remembered the good old days when he was still a huntsman in Atlas, training, and doing missions with his wife\son. "It was quite the adventure."

"Do you know any possible method of stopping her? Since... killing her and all doesn't work..." Ruby was desperate for some sort of answer that continued to weigh her down. She doubted Jaune had a proper answer. History and how things worked seemed much different in both worlds.

Jaune could only sigh as he thought to himself, "The me in her world does not have the Excalibur, or else she would not be asking. Unless the me from her world is different than I am, as different experiences change others in both the smallest and the largest of ways" In short, Jaune had no certain idea that would work for her version of Remnant.

"For your world, Ruby, I am not exactly sure. However, I do know there are two methods that I believe would work for your Remnant... either make peace with everyone in Remnant and have them on your side against Salem, and summon the gods to avoid risking humanity's erasure, or show Salem the importance of Life and Death" His idea did not give Ruby any hope.

"Everyone working together to go against Salem would take too long and be too hard. It's a risky hand when dealing with the gods, but making Salem understand the importance of life and death?... That has to be impossible" Ruby looked down with complex emotions within her. "How is she within your world, Jaune...?" Jaune took a glance at her as he could only stare ahead, the entire scene of the war playing back in his head.
