Salem turned to see someone else approaching... It was Hazel.

Salem: Hazel, you finally arrived.

Hazel stopped in front of her, looking around with concern.

Hazel: Your grace, where... where are the intruders?

He tried to speak calmly, but in the back of his mind, he was worried about Emerald.

Salem: They have been disposed of for good.

She walked past him without much care for the lives of others. Hazel's eyes fell on the dissipating dust cloud, and his eyes widened in disbelief. It couldn't be true. He clenched his fists and walked behind Salem.

Hazel: Your Grace...

Salem, without turning, spoke with a serious but normal tone.

Salem: Yes, Hazel?

Hazel stopped and turned to the slowly fading dust cloud. He drew back his fist and sent Salem flying with a powerful punch. She cushioned her fall with a swirling cyclone, and Hazel moved forward to engage in battle.

Salem: Foolish...

Hazel discarded his vest and produced a large crystal.

Hazel: I will make you pay for all the suffering you've caused, Salem!

He embedded various types of crystals into his shoulders: ice, fire, lightning, earth, and wind. Each crystal sent tracks of glowing energy under his skin, and his eyes started to glow from the power he channeled.

Staring up at Salem, who had levitated higher into the air, Hazel set his fists ablaze, taking on a boxer's stance.

Hazel: I'm doing what Gretchen would have done!

Salem gathered her magic and sent it at Hazel in short bursts. He used Lightning Dust to augment his speed, weaving and dodging between the attacks. Then, he unleashed a barrage of fireballs at Salem, but she easily dodged them and responded with beams of her own. Hazel dodged them skillfully, then used Wind Dust at his feet to launch himself toward Salem.

Combining the Dust between his palms, Hazel created an oversized ball of rock, fire, and lightning, which he slammed into Salem. She was knocked to the ground, and he followed up with a series of powerful punches, leaving the ground covered in dark, glistening blood. Despite being severely beaten, Salem's hand made a gesture, and her sigil appeared on the ground, sending Shadow Hands to immobilize Hazel's limbs and lifting him into the air.

Still holding Hazel immobile, Salem began to regenerate her head, her jaw cracking and popping back into place. However, Hazel was not defeated yet. He readied a crystal hidden in his palm, using it to create a Hard-Light shield to block Salem's burst of magic. Salem retaliated by flinging him into a distant wall with her Shadow Hands as she walked to him and start to slam his head to the ground multiple times hard as she casually over-power Hazel.

Suddenly, a ship engine roared to life as Jaune, wearing his war armor and holding the Excalibur, revealed himself. The ship's golden glow sliced through the dust, instantly clearing the air. Jaune and the ship was perfectly fine as Jaune made a small but durable barrier with his magic which blocked the attack from hurting his friends, and he was ready to face Salem and protect his friends.
