BLUE LIGHT SPREAD THROUGH THE SHIP as Bo-Katan showed the crew a hologram of a Light Cruiser. She explained to them that once it had been stocked full of armed troopers and a crew, but now it carried only half that.
"Your assessment is misleading," Docter Pershing interrupted.
"Oh, great," huffed Cara. "An objective opinion."
"This isn't some subterfuge. I assure you."
Bo-Katan tilted her head. "Let him speak."
"There's a garrison of dark troopers on board. They're the ones who abducted the Child."
Din took a step forward, leaving Ari's side. "How many troopers do they have armed in those suits?"
"These are third-generation designs. They are no longer suits. The human inside them was the final weakness to be solved. They're droids."
At the revelation, Din looked back at Cara, the two sharing a silent conversation. This was something new none of them had encountered before. Just how dangerous were these Dark Troopers?
Fennec continued questioning Pershing. "Where are they bivouacked?"
The doctor stood from his seat and Bo-Katan moved, allowing him to point it out on the hologram. "They're held in cold storage in this cargo bay. They draw too much power to be kept at ready."
"How long to power up?" said Fennec, standing beside him.
"A few minutes, perhaps."
"Where is the Child being held?" Din asked.
Pershing pressed a button, the rooms changing. "This is the brig. He's being held under armed guard."
"Very well. We split into two parties," suggested Bo-Katan.
"I go alone."
Ari looked at Din, brows raised. "Excuse me? Not happening." She turned to the ginger. "I'm going with him.
Bo-Katan struggled to hide the smirk on her face and looked back at the Light Cruiser. "Fine. Phase one, Lambda shuttle issues a distress call. Two, we come in hot and emergency land at the mouth of the fighter launch tube, cutting off any potential interceptors. Koska, Fennec, Dune and myself will disembark with maximum initiative. Once we've neutralized the launch bay, we make our way through these tandem decks in a penetration manoeuvre."
"And Ari and me?"
"We'll be misdirection. Once we draw a crowd, you two slip through the shadows, get the kid."
"Those Dark Troopers are gonna be a real skank in the scud pie," said Cara.
"Their bay is on the way to the brig, right?" asked Ari, moving to look at the hologram and then at Pershing. "Can we make it there before they deploy?"
