THE LAST PERSON DIN EXPECTED to find on Ossus was Ahsoka Tano. Turned out she was an old friend of the Skywalker family and not by any means there to train Grogu. It confused Din.
"Then what are you doing here?" he asked her.
"That's my question for you."
"I'm here to see the kid.."
"That's why R2 brought you to me instead."
Din looked to the hill, noting the structure the ant droids were building. "What is this place?"
"There's nothing now. But will one day be a great school. Grogu will be its first student."
"I'd like to know how he's doing."
"He's doing fine."
"I wanna see him."
Ahsoka sighed. "I know you do. Let us take a walk. I warned you when we met that your attachment to Grogu would be difficult to let go of."
"He was a Mandalorian founding in my care. I just wanna make sure he's safe."
"There is no place in the galaxy more safe than here with Luke."
"I don't understand why you're all right with Skywalker's decision to train the kid when you wouldn't."
She stopped and exhaled sharply. "Because it was his choice. I don't control the wants of others."
"Then it's my choice to go and see him."
"Of course. If that's what you wish." she turned and looked into the distance. There, upon another Hill under the shade of a tree were Grogu and his Master training.
"All right." Don started to make his way to them but was stopped by more of Ahsoka's questioning.
"Are you doing this for Grogu, or are you doing this for yourself?"
"I just. . . I wanna give him this." He pulled out the gift, showing it to her.
"Why? So he will remember you?"
"No. As a Mandalorian founding, he should have this. It's his right."
Ahsoka crossed her arms, she wasn't buying any of it. "Foundling? Perhaps he is a Padawan now."
