There's something I want to tell you," Dee said on the phone.
"Okay hun, what is it?"
"I..."
"Dee? Hello?" The line got cut off before I can even hear the next word. I tried to call back but she didn't answer, I got myself a glass of water before going back to my seat and try dialing again but to no avail.A tone began to ring from a distance and for a second I thought it was mine but I am holding my phone right now so whose phone is it when I'm all alone here? I got up to look where the sound is coming from until I reach my room and there it is, the faint glow beside my bed.
I stared at it going back and forth between the one I am holding and the one in front of me. The caller ID read Daphne so I am a little confused right now. Cold sweats start to form all over my body, goosebumps they say. Finally, I mustered the courage to pick up the phone and answer.
"Hello?"
"Hello??" I asked for the second time but all I could hear is a muffled cry.
"Dee honey are you alright?"
"Ma'am Rachel," a different voice said and that's what made me open my eyes. It suddenly hit me that I was dreaming earlier, I was sleeping all along, and the scene with Dee was just a dream. What is this strange feeling that I'm getting in the middle of the night, I shook my head before getting back to Mhaegan.
"What's wrong?" I asked, I took a deep breath waiting for the worst to come.I rushed my way through a crowd of gossiping neighbors. In a flash, I entered the house not minding the people inside my steps became heavier as I reach the top of the second floor. I know I was not supposed to be here but there she is, lifeless. This can't be true, no it cannot be. Tears didn't stream down my face but my feet won't move. The silence was all I can muster even now that I am being escorted downstairs.
"Who let you in?!" A man with a golden tooth said. I know someone answered for me in the background but I can't seem to comprehend things. This cannot be, no it can't be possible! How? Why?
I am in a daze of a whirlwind of terror. Daphne is dead. She is dead.
